Wow. Ok, um ... Let's start with ... the Andes?

Not the Andes. Try a different hemisphere.

Very confused. That looks like snow, but it's at lower elevation than the green on the mountain tops? Is that snow or salt?

Snow.

Somewhere Scandinavian?

Scandinavia is a bit far north. This is more continental.

Thanks to the hints (just about the only way I can figure these things out), this is near Zermatt, Switzerland

Ok, so it's the Alps, then?

elliput

Yep, this is the Alps, but I am looking for one Alp in particular.

Gonna have to guess the Matterhorn?

I had to disable Google Earth on my computer. :-(

MarisaSF

Then I'll throw in a guess at Mont Blanc?

ETA: I can't get Google Earth to work on my computer. :(
Am looking online for online photos. Would love to id those lakes. I'm a sucker for a good mtn lake.

Matternhorn it is! Or if you prefer Italiano- Monte Cervino, and Francais - Le Cervin.

Good job, Peggy!
That was my first guess.
Now I'm craving fondue. :)

If you like mountain lakes may I humbly suggest checking out Lake Louise and Moraine Lake - two glacial lakes a few hours from where I live. The pictures, while stunning, do not do them justice, but worth checking out anyway! Enjoy!

Sorry to OP for the threadjack. ;)

I'd love to!
DH has been to Banff and I haven't. We're always looking for places neither of us have been, but I would love to take the kid(s) there when they can hike themselves. ;)
Thanks for the reminder. I'm nudging DH. :)

Threadjack? What threadjack? Lake Louise and Moraine Lake are amazing. :-) I remember going on a family trip up to Banff when I was about 10. Loved it!

OK, maybe not quite a threadjack - how about a tangent. Yep, that's what I meant. Mind you I guess it was all geography related! Love the challenges - thanks for posting them! :)
