I'm thinking about using a few pics of my son from the beach this past summer in our Christmas cards. Shutterfly has cards now where you can include more then one photo, and I put one together that looks pretty nice. What are you feelings on non-holiday photos in holday cards? Like it, or no?

Just curious. :)

I think thats fine! In fact I think it's nice to see "beach" pics when it cold and grey outside! Why always have pics of everyone in red sweaters posing ya know! I say go for it!

I look forward to receiving terrific photos and love seeing some that are not traditional holiday pictures. I say go for it!

I love getting pictures in Christmas cards and really don't mind if they are holiday themed or not! It's just fun to see cute pictures :)

I have no problem with non-holiday themed photos in cards. I hardly ever use ones where the boys are in holiday attire. I usually find one from the last few months where they all looked good and go with that one.

Perfect! If the pictures are cute and they go together well, I'm all for it!

I just did my first "non-holiday" themed cards, normally I do the Christmas outfits. I used pictures of my children in summer Strausburg outfits done at the park and did the collage card through Exposures. They turned out beautiful!

I love to see any pictures of children at Christmas although I do think if you are sending them out in a card they should be a nice picture, not just anything.

We've done beach pics the last two years and they have been really nice. We've always gotten good feedback.

I got a few beach cards last year and really liked them.

I have only done 1 picture card...I made a collage with Photoshop and got the cards from shutterfly. I did a "sleep" theme....so no Christmas theme. Everyone seemed to love them!
This year I will do the same...a theme...in a collage! I say keep it interesting!

We've never taken "holiday" pics for Christmas cards. For a couple of years we took pics that at least were during the winter. Last year we took our first holidayish pic. We wore Christmasy colors and sat in our church garden. Course this is in L.A so it doesn't look all that cold either :-)

I was wondering the same thing. DS's 12 month pics will be in Jan and I though of doing them early and doing a Xmas photocard. But, then looking at the prices (at least $1 per card at JCpenny), I thought it would be cheaper and easier to do regular (nice) photo collage card. Then we wouldn't have to rush to get the portraits done before we travel for Xmas. Good to hear others do this as well.

The past two years we haven't used holiday pictures for our cards. The first year we used a beach picture, last year we sent a picture of Martie with the NC State mascot. I think it's fun to use non holiday pictures.

I love any picture cards. It's more fun I think than store cards. I think the best pictures are the ones where everybody looks happy whether they're dressed for the season or not. If anything I prefer the more casual look. Not a huge fan of traditional pics. I would love to see a beach photo when we're knee deep in it here. :)

I love to see beach pictures in holiday cards! Your card sounds cute and fun.

We have neighbors and family members that do this every year. My DH is strictly against it. He thinks holiday cards should have an appropriate holiday picture on them (so no halloween shots on christmas cards).

Last year I sent a picture of my husband lying underneath the giant boot in front of the LL Bean store in Freeport Maine on Labor Day weekend. (It looked like he was getting stomped on!!)

The Text over the card said "Sending you happy holiday memories"

On the inside I wrote- "Labor Day, 2005.It didn't specify which holiday... "

That's just my sense of humor.

This year will probably be my son in his halloween costume...

I think a beach photo on a Christmas card would "warm-up" cold toes and ungloved hands. GO FOR IT!

We did a collage of the entire year last year (age 1-2) for DS and everyone loved it. It was fun to see how he changed over the course of the year, and we had pictures from a variety of holidays.

I just didn't like any of the "holiday" pics I got enough to use just one of them for all the cards.

I made the collage myself and got photo cards from Costco. We send a lot of cards and I just am not into spending a lot of $.
