I have been thinking about her and Adam and their 3 girls. Wondering if Amy is home from the hospital?

Hope all is well.

Hi! We're here, just exhausted and settling in. Amy came home from the hospital on Sunday, so she was in the NICU for 11 days. We are still struggling with weight gain, but she nurses well for a 34 weeker, she just doesn't have a lot of stamina, and isn't gaining weight on nursing alone. So we are offering bottle supplements (of breastmilk) after each nursing session. So I am still pumping after every nursing session and its just incredibly draining.

Maybe some day I'll be up for a real update and pictures, LOL!

Beth,
I'm so glad to hear that both you and Amy are home from the hospital. I can't imagin doing all of that pumping on top of nursing a newborn. Hopefully soon you'll move to more nursing and less pumping. I look forward to seeing pictures once you've got some energy!

Congratulations again Beth! Kudos to you for keeping up the pumping and nursing. I remember how exhausting it was and the struggle to keep Logan gaining weight. It's great that she's nursing so well, though!! I just wanted you to know that I've been thinking about you and I'm glad to hear that all is well!

Best wishes to you and your family!

Hi Beth - Congratulations! As someone who's BTDT, I just wanted to remind you that you will get through this! I also had to nurse and pump for my two preemies (34 weeker and a 33 weeker). My DH is a champ for getting me through the times when I was so ready to give in. It takes so much time, you *really* feel like breastmilk is the only thing you're focused on, and you're sick and tired of cleaning the pump supplies. And, you may get frustrated that she's not strong enough to nurse yet as well as taking breastmilk from the bottle. It's so frustrating, but it will happen!

I'm so glad to hear Amy's nursing well... that's GREAT for a 34 weeker! Right around 40 weeks gestational age is when I was able to stop pumping in addition to nursing. It seemed like an eternity then, but now it's such a distant memory.

The bonus is that I also have a freezer FULL of milk for DD, which is worth its weight in gold. So, hang in there and know you're doing an incredible thing for Amy!

Beth, it's great to hear that she's home! I pray that she will soon start to gain weight so that you don't have to do double duty with the nursing and the pumping! I look forward to when you actually feel rested enough to post an update with pictures.

Hugs!

So glad to hear that Amy is home from the hospital and things seem to be going well. I'll be praying that she is able to stop getting supplementation soon so you can get a break from pumping. Thanks for stopping in and updating us.

Glad to hear that you're all home now and that Amy is getting bigger and stronger each day. Here's hoping that you manage to rest in between all of the nursing and pumping.

Oh wow Beth, I just saw your post. So great that you're able to pump for the bottle supplements, but it MUST be exhausting, esp. with another kid to take care of. Hang in there!
