I live in upstate NY and our house isn't insulated (1940's cape) and the kids rooms are colder. Any recommendations?

Thanks,
Chris

I love our Vornado. It's similar to this one:

Looking over options that were "safe" for kids, this one's outside doesn't get hot, it can't be tipped over, and it will shut off once it reaches the temperature setting. We use it to help heat our large-ish drafty family room. We tried another brand before this (Honeywell?) that was very noisy and returned it. The fan is pretty subtly quiet on this. I used a Bed, Beth and Beyond 20% coupon to make it a bit more affordable (retail for their base model is around $80.)

HTH,
Anne

Yep, we LOVE our vornado and have two of them. We're thinking of picking up a third one. It has a high and low fan setting and you can also set the temperature so that the heating part turns on and off as needed. The fan sound is pretty good white noise and it doesn't feel hot on the outside at all.
