This is probably a silly question but one I could not find an easy answer online. I miss my TV shows and would love to catch up on Desperate Housewives and Grey Anatomy but don't own an iPod and do not want to download iTunes software only to discover that I need an iPod to watch their videos.

On the ABC.com web site you can watch some episodes for free. On the page that i have linked to on the left side click on "watch it for free" under where it says "three ways to watch".

Watching for free on abc.com is the way to go. You wll have to sit through about 2 minutes worth of ads but that's not much. For iTunes, if you download onto your computer, you can view the video with a media player on you computer. You definitely don't need a video iPod.

I second that recommendation.

the iTunes "store" and iPod upload are only two facets of the software. iTunes is also a media player like Windows Media Player or Realplayer.

You don't need an ipod and for shows not on ABC you can watch them on your computer...do it all the time...

Thank you ladies. Unfortunately, I am out of luck with ABC free options as "Only viewers within the United States can watch these full length episodes" ;(. If I were in the States, I would just catch them on TV or tape/Tivo for later use. At least I have iTunes :).

Are there any restrictions in terms of how many times I can watch a show I buy from iTunes or on how many computers? I'd rather download them at work (free, faster) as at home I have to pay per KB downloaded from a foreign site and at work we pay a fixed amount per month (yes, I've checked with our sys admin and he is cool with me doing that).

Once you buy it, it's yours. You can copy it to a removable media format (CD or flash drive) and it should work at home.
