Just wondering if anyone gives their young child (2 - 3 years) homeopathic medicines for colds and allergies? The research I have seen for them is only for adults and I am very interested in knowing what is considered safe for children. A lot of you parents probably use them for yourself and hopefully, for your child. If you personally use anything for your child or know of good websites I would appreciate hearing.
Thanks!
Linda

I've given Kaya teething tablets fairly often. And although I haven't done it yet, I know that Rescue Remedy is also safe for young children. My acupuncturist, doula, and greentaramama (yahoo group, but she has a website too) are all resources I've used when I've needed to do something along those lines. If you're interested in anything related to natural and organic family living, you might want to check out the greentaramama website and join her yahoo group. I find the group of women there to be very helpful.

I use arnica cream & calendula cream pretty frequently for cuts & bruises. They seem to work for DD.

From everything I've ever read, homeopathy is among the safest possible "natural" solutions possible. If anything, the medical community seems convinced it can't work because the amounts of active ingredient are so, so, so small.

We've used it for teething, constipation issues, and I'm currently using some homeopathy in pregnancy. I'll use homeopathic arnica postpartum. ETA: my first experience w/ homeopathy was using a remedy a lacation consultant suggested to me and it worked very well. That's what got me interested in the first place.

I feel far, far safer using homeopathy than a lot of herbal remedies, by comparison.

The most effective way to use homeopathy is to consult with a homeopath, because it isn't always that easy to accuratelypick a remedy sometimes, especially when you are first starting out. But if it isn't the correct remedy, it just won't work well, so it is IMO quite safe.

we're HUGE hylands tablets fans! I've given the kids the teething tablets and C+ cold tablets. They work wonders. More so the cold tablets. The teething works but not always. If you haven't heard of hylands, you can check them out at hylands.com. They have a lot of products for the entire family.

We use several items made by Hylands. One of our favorites is Calms Forte for Kids. When Joshua is wound up tight and having a melt-down at bedtime due to over-tiredness, a long day, emotionally charged birthday party, etc. or just is having alot of trouble going to sleep, we give him 2 tablets, and he calms down, and is able to sleep peacefully.

I've been eying that and want to get the calms forte.

how old is Joashua? My almost 3 year old could use this at time. Right as I'm typing this she's lying in her crib reading.

We do, too. We also use the Hyland's Bumps and Bruises. The kids call it the "magic medicine."
