I have 3 SIL's to buy for, in years past we've exchanged bath and body works stuff, recipe books, hand painted soap dispensers, hand towels, fun small purses, decorative garden "stakes" - I'm just at my wits end trying to think of something more original than this year.

any good ideas anyone???

hmm, does she like to read? maybe a book or two or a book with some tea for a relaxing night. if she likes to cook maybe some penzey spices, i love all their stuff. a nice bottle of wine with some wine glasses? hmmm...im not really all that great with these types of things. maybe some scratch off lottery tickets. is she a coffee buff, maybe some coffee beans and some biscotti to go with it.

I just got my sister and her bf inflatable travel neck pillows (from Target, $5) and one of those packing bags that you roll up to deflate so your clothes take up less space ($10 at a travel store). They're taking a trip out of the country for Christmas, so it was an appropriately timed gift. The packing bags are awesome, and could even be used for storing clothes off season. They're not fun-and-exciting, but definitely useful!

Other ideas:
-Flavored pancake/waffle mix and maple syrup
-CD of holiday music from a local radio station (our local classical station has one that I think is ~$15)
-totebags (decorated or not)
-wine accessories (anti-drip ring, wine opener, wine charms)
-small cutting board and paring knife

I got a few people board games this year. I know the feeling, I feel like I keep buying the same gifts.
I got this for my sis

and this for cousin

I also got a couple Casionopoly - which is a combo of casino games and monopoly.

ETA: I also got a few people those rubber-y bakeware pans and a mix from Target. One was a bundt pan and cinnamon swirl mix and the other was a loaf pan with gingerbread mix. I think for the bundt it was almost $20 (for pan and mix) and more like $12 for loaf combo.

Maybe some specialty chocolates, makeup packs, hair/nail accessories (do your own mani/pedi packs). Teas, eye covers, or other relaxation products.

If you go to a store like Trade Secret they sell little packs of OPI nail polish (the good stuff) in $10 gift sets. They come in festive colors and usually include a clear polish.

Target usually has some fun gift sets priced under $20. Or, if SIL has kids, Target has $10 and $15 gingerbread house kits. Those looked like fun.

You could also do picture frames with/without family pictures in it.

Nice packs of Stationary or Card kits are nice (they include pretty cards for all occasions)and you could throw in some stamps with it. Makes card sending a lot easier.

I always hit Ann Taylor Loft for clearance-priced jewelry. Last year I found some stylish and cute $12 watches (marked down from $40). This year I found cute earrings for $9. Cost Plus World Market has great, fun, inexpensive jewelry too. You can usually find necklaces and festive pins for under $15.

Starbucks (or Dunn Bros., or Carabou Coffee depending where you are in the country) usually have charming travel mug/biscotti/coffee sets under $20 if she's a coffee lover.

HTH!

How about those big Ghiradelli brownie mix multi-packs (4 packs in a box) at Target for $7 -- I just tried these and I'm a convert!!! They're in the holiday food section.

Or maybe something like a holiday gift wrap/ribbon totes?

Or one of those little greeting card reminder books that you store the greeting cards in? (you can even put in a few greeting cards in the pockets too).
