I promise to try and post an update on our crazy household, but I need some shopping advice, and knew this group would be the best place to turn to. So beware - several posts coming from me :)

DH has started swimming again for exercise. He swam competitively in HS and college. He wants a smallish workout bag to take to the gym. It needs to fit in his locker, and he wants a mesh pocket to keep his wet suit afterwards. Any ideas? The only ones I have found are either HUGE or expensive....

Thanks!

I have been a mom too long. The first thing that came to mind is the Lands End Little Tripper!

even has a special pouch for wet *suits* :)

good luck!

GENIOUS!!! Those of you who have one, does it scream "diaper bag?" It doesn't look like it from the photo link you provided, but DH might not think the same as I would. Is the pouch mesh or separate from the rest of the bag? So his big (XL mens, NOT a speedo) wet trunks would fit?? At $20, you can't go wrong. Thanks so much!

I have a small duffel from Tough Traveler http://www.toughtraveler.com/lug/duffel.asp that I've been using for almost 25 years. It's really taken a beating and keeps on going. Nothing on it has broken or torn. Amazing investment. I take it to the gym 4x/week and it's so thin that it fits right into those tiny, narrow lockers. It doesn't have a wet pocket, but I just reuse a 2-gallon ziplock bag for my swimsuit (when I do aqua aerobics) or mesh sponge from the showers. I can't brag enough about the quality.

Most of the gym bags I've seen are huge (way too big for our fitness center's lockers). That LL Bean/Lands end could be awesome, although going up a size might make it look less like a diaper bag. I think any mom would "know."

The swimmers backpacks are popular with swimmers at our gym. They fit into gym lockers.

IMO, it screams more purse than diaper bag. FWIW, my DH won't carry it, as a diaper bag or other type of bag.

"I" love my LE LTs (I have 2), but wouldn't buy one for a guy. I'd go with either a backpack or duffel bag (see my post below). Another option is a triathlon bag. Adidas and Saucony make them.

JMHO.

I have to agree. We have the LT and it would be a great bag except DH jokingly refers to it as his "man purse" when he has to carry it.

A triathalon bag is a good rec - DH has one and it has a separate wet compartment. Not sure what brand his is.
ETA: I think this is the bag he has (and I think where he got it from): http://tinyurl.com/y49uz6. If that link doesn't work it's the TYR Transition Backpack at swimoutlet.com ($47.95).

They have lots of other options as well:

Good luck!

What about timbuk2 bag?

I got a large b/c I needed enough room for both DS and my stuff, and it works great. I love it!

Wow, that last link has GREAT prices for the Speedo Swimmers and Performance Swimmers backpacks. either of those get my first vote, they are nice bags.

I bought it because I refuse to carry anything that looks like a diaper bag!!! DH carries it without complaint. I have the older version ---- I think that the newer style is even less diaper bag looking!
