I've heard that you're not contagious after you've been on an antibiotic for 24 hours. I'm not sure if that's a general rule of thumb or the actual truth for all antibiotics.

Ds has to stay home from preschool 24 hours from starting antibiotics so I figured that was the contagious period. I called his ped to verify and she did.
So, 24 hours you are OK from what I have heard.
Feel better soon! Strep throat just worked it's way through my house. I remember feeling pretty awful for about 1 day and got better pretty quickly after. Take lots of ibuprofen if you can. Our Dr. had dh and I on 800mg/ 4X a day.

The last time my daughter had step and had a z-pak, the doc said she could go to school the next day. Boy was she mad.
