This situation is totally my fault - we have no family here and I, as a first time crazy Mom, have never felt comfortable leaving my precious, fragile, would totally fall apart without me kid (according to me) with anyone for long periods of time, let alone for the evening.

So, I have been taking DS to a class where we've been separating. He's been doing well. After a dry run in the fall with Grandma handling DS after I put him to sleep and woke up and freaked out I was apprehensive about ever being able to leave him alone in the evening. Finally recognizing that I have kind of created a situation that is really not fair to myself, DH or DS I asked one of our neighbors, who have been like surrogate GPs to DS to watch him last night. DH and I went to his work Xmas party and for the first time someone else put him to bed besides us and it went awesome!!!

I am so happy!! I may actually be able to leave him in the evening and go on a date with DH every once in a while. I am sure DH will be thrilled. And our neighbors love watching DS, their grandkids moved away and they love to spend time with him.

Anyway, had to share that I am no longer crazy. Well, about this particular thing anyway!

Yee haw!

The first time is always the hardest. We think it is going to be a big mess, but our kids always surprise us, don't they?

Isn't amazing how proud we can be of our DC's when they learn to do things like this! Good job Mama!
