Hi all,
Random but I get 3 TMX Elmos at Costco a few months ago. One is for my sister one is for DS but the 3rd doesn't have a home. We only paid 34 bucks or so for it and I'd like to give it to some child who REALLY wants one and whose parents can't get them one. I have no idea how to do this ... any ideas? We live in MA.
TIA!

Are there any Toys For Tots drop offs near you? Or you could call a local church, private school (or somewhere like that) to find out if they are taking collections for the needy. Most do some sort of Adopt-a-Family or Angel Tree for Christmas.

I'd still worry that someone would take it and try to sell it for a profit, KWIM?

Maybe the OP could ebay it and give the proceeds to Toys for Tots or something like that?

eta: Our church has adopted a missionary family with three kids, and we also support some local missions, at least one which focuses on mothers and kids, so maybe there's something like this that Hillary could look into?

Is there a home for orphaned children (I shutter when i even think such things exist, but unfortunately, not everyone gets adopted) in your area where you could donate it? WE are in PA and a family was in the paper for donating an extra x box or whever the big game is to the home.

I just wanted to say Hillary, I think you are a fanastic person to want to donate to someone in need. I get sick when I see all the jerks who bought them up and are selling them in the paper etc for twice or three times their value.

The stores are flooded now - I don't think that there's much of a profit left to make on these for now!

How about an abused woman's shelter near you? They always have people who had to run from home with nothing. A child there would probably want/need it more then others. You are wonderful for doing that. Some child in the above situation would probably need a good "laugh" given their circumstances.

I had an extra one that I took up to Children's hospital. I had bought a set of 3 off of ebay for about $65 each (a week later I found them everywhere). I was initially going to sell it but decided to donate it to a sick child. After all laughter is the best medicine. I figure this was just my pay it forward form last year. When all of our Christmas gifts were stolen so many people here on the boards gave to us so that my Children would have a good Christmas. I will never forget everyone's kindness. It felt so good to just do a random act of kindness and it to benefit a child.
I think what you are doing is wonderful!

Thanks all! I think a hospital is a great idea (seems like TMX Elmo will have somewhat limited play so lots of kids getting a kick out of it would be nice). We have a Children's Hospital and Shriners Burn Hospital and I will see which one has a good program. There is also an orphanage that has a gift for kids program but I didn't see any TMX requests.
Thanks all!

Tara that is an excellent idea. I think I'll do the same with my extra elmo. Rainbow Baby and Children's Hospital is about 20 minutes away, the sickest babies are there... Thanks!
