My DD will sleep until 7 am (sometimes 7:30) if I am lucky. However, if DH gets up earlier, his moving around and turning off the house alarm to leave wakes her up. THis morning he woke up early so he decided to go to the golf course at 6:15. He leaves and she wakes up. And there is no going back to sleep. I know I am cranky, but waking her up and then leaving is not fair. So--how do I sound proof her room? Or train her to sleep through it? Her room is at the end of the hall and noise from the whole house travels in there, I know I have heard it. It doesn't bother her in the evening or in the night but if you make a peep past 5, she's awake ---for the day.

Help.

Thanks.

A pp in another thread said Target sells a white noise machine for less than $15 so I'd try that. The difference was worlds apart when I put the fan in ds's room. It's a shame it took me so long.

Um DH went GOLFING?? That would so piss me off (but you are clearly a nicer person then I am). All I can think of is maybe a noise maker (plays static sounding white noise) to mask the noise. In our house we have a you break it you own it policy -- you wake up DS and you are playing with him til the other wakes up (we sometimes skip flushing the toilet!).
GOOD LUCK!

What part of the Target would find a white noise maker?

I'm going to Target today to look at it so I don't know but I think in the area where all the household machines are; in the vicinity of the vaccuums. I'll update when I get back but I think that's close enough.

Okay-I'll check by the vaccuums. I didn't know if it would be with the music or applainces.

Thanks!

Ok, I mentioned this idea to my sister and she said that constant white noise is harmful to children. Has anyone heard of this? I tried searching googled and found some info, but it seemed to be loud white noise--airports, traffic, etc... That is was harmful to thought patterns and language development.

I just want some sleep!! LOL

Do they make any of these devices with a timer/alarm clock- type feature? Where is it could just come on at 4 am and stay on til 7?

Or is my sister over protective and I should us run the baby all night???

Thanks.

My mom has mentioned this, too. I haven't seen any studies or reports on it, but we decided to skip the white noise machine anyway. My DS (12 months) is the same way after 5am. He will sleep through anything in the first part of the night but after 5am, he's a very light sleeper. It stinks but we've just decided to deal with it for now. (I'm hoping he'll get better as he grows!)

I do enjoy the nights that he needs a humidifier. ;) The white noise definitely helps.

Good luck!
