View Full Version : How about a Preggo, Adoption, New Baby update?!

How is everyone doing??

I barely qualify with a new kid, but DD is wonderful. She's 6.5 months and has been crawling for 2 weeks now! I can't believe it. She can cover about 4 feet without losing coordination and she can go about 20 feet if she's really on a mission.

She got her first tooth about 10 days ago, too.

I am hoping it's a combination of the above things, but she is sleeping horribly! She was such a good sleeper until about 10 days ago and now it's bad, bad, bad! Up at 1 am for 2 hours and stuff like that. Ugh. I hope it passes soon.

She has tried a few solids, but has no interst. She just works her hardest to get the stuff out of her mouth. We'll keep offering and I'm sure she'll get there eventually.

So, let's hear your updates. I know we have a couple people very close to their due dates!

I'm due Saturday, but this baby shows no immediate signs of wanting out. This pregnancy has been wonderfully easy and normal, though, so I'm really okay with being pregnant for another week or two if necessairy. :)

Must be quick but my baby will one next month. It's SO not fair. Why can't they be babies for longer?? He's quite the proficient cruiser and has even taken a couple of steps on his own. I'm so not ready for that.

He also *LOVES* to eat. Man oh man, I can't believe how much the kid eats!! DD is the complete opposite so I suppose it's exaggerated but he eats five times what she does and then wants more.

I have to go but will write more again when/if I get a minute.

I don't remember reading a congrats/announc thread. I noticed that you and alleyoop were around again and wondered if you were pg.

i'm still pregnant....i think i failed my glucose test but won't know for sure until AFTER xmas!!!! so i'm gonna eat up while i can....

i'm really hitting the "uncomfortable" phase and am still dealing with the HG...so that sucks...and i've broken out into a rash...no idea what that's about...

DS still has no name...expect to be getting a lot of "name the baby" polls from me in the coming weeks...i'm really starting to stress about it...

i'm nesting, and super super excited for this baby to come. i really really want to hold him and kiss him and meet him and all of that....i think it's actually MORE exciting this time around cause i know how wonderful it is! it was too big a concept to grasp the first time....

that's it from here!

DS#2 is due Jan 17th. Pregnancy has been tougher compared to my first one. I really cannot wait to have the baby.

Still working full time. I think I will stop next week. Lots of things to do before the baby. Just realized that we somehow managed to lose the whole set of 0-3 clothes from DS1. So, need to shop for baby clothes now. Crib is still with a friend, need to get it back.

Donno how we are going to get everything done. Hoping that somehow we will manage everything before the baby comes.

Wish everyone happy holidays!!!.

So great to hear everyones update!

I will join in to even though DS is not quite *new* anymore :(.

DS has been crawling like a pro for about a month and half now and was 'mine' crawling before that. He is pulling himself up on *everything* now and always wants to go, go, go. He can even stand alone for about 5 seconds before blops down on his bottom :). He has gotten good at 'catching' himself too. He is eating well and loving his solids. He still doesnt have a single tooth!

Love reading updates :)

Things are going pretty well for me. I am about 25.5 weeks and no complications other than a small hernia at my belly button. We are going for a follow up ultrasound on Jan 4th to make sure the cysts have gone away in babies brain so we don't have to wonder and worry about that anymore. My little girl (yes it is a girl) is quite active and measuring just as she should.

Things are good here - Zach's 22 months old now and a complete "stinker" - typical toddler. :) He certainly keeps us hopping - and he's got such a great personality.

Our second home study - for a Korean adoption - was just sent to Korea on 12/8 - so we probably have about a year yet before we have a second son. ;)

Conor will be 3 months the day after Christmas and is an absolute doll. He is such a sweetie-pie. He smiles all of the time, and has a great laugh. So far he has definitely made it up to me for a pregnancy that was scary at times. He even lets me sleep!! My 2 other dc are doing great with the adjustment and love their little brother.

Well Dex is a few weeks older than Lucinda so not sure he qualifies as "new" but I'll check in anyway.

Dex is ridiculous! He started crawling around 5 months and immediately started pulling up to standing. He is even crusing along the couch now. Ack! I've tried solids but he's not too interested and I'm lazy. I'll try a little harder after the holidays. He's not starving though. He was 19 lbs 10 oz at his 6 month check-up.

He's a crappy sleeper. I was able to lay him down for a while but now he only sleeps in my arms or in a carrier or the car. He has 3 teeth and another one coming in so maybe that's it.

He is just about the happiest baby I've ever met. He is quite happy to play on his own for relatively long periods of time. He is also quite entertained by his big brother.

All is good here. Can't wait to hear about all the new babies that are on the way.

We are matched with a birth mother who is due January 20th, another boy! We are not ready for number 2. All my newborn stuff is still with a friend, our travel plans are not confirmed, and we do not have a big boy bedroom set up for Fred. With that said, we can't wait to meet our new little guy in Louisiana and we pray the birthmother stays committed to her plan. What a great way to start the new year!

Mika is 5.5 weeks and doing well. She is growing very quickly and has been putting on more than an oz a day. She's not a great sleeper, though, but we're working on it. Last night she started in the swing for 4.5 hours, then when she started grunting, DH transferred her to the crib and she actually slept for another hour! That is definitely a record for her. The night before she slept 4.5 hours and that was a record. Before these last two nights, she was sleeping 2, 2.5, occasionally 3 hour stretches. Other than the sleep issue, she's otherwise a pretty content baby and loves to be held. She loves looking at lights and loves listening to people's voices. In the last two days, she's started smiling at me or DH when we talk to her, so that's been very sweet to see. Oh, and so far, crossing my fingers and toes, she's doing well taking a bottle once a day (her sister started refusing at 8 weeks and never took a bottle after 12 weeks).

Kaya has had a more difficult time adjusting, and while she loves her little sister, she also wants to be the baby. She does want to help, though, and loves to hold the bottle, give her a pacifier (even when Mika doesn't want it, lol), pat her head, put a blanket on her, put a hat on her to keep her warm, fold up her sleeves and so on. Her regression has taken on the form of sucking her thumb, which is odd because she never did suck her thumb or take a pacifier. But in the grand scheme of things, this sort of regression I can handle! She is still nursing once a day and she's mostly accepted that she can't nurse multiple times a day the way Mika does.

So far, I've been amazed at how different the two sisters are. They look completely different and their personalities are completely different. I could tell this from the day Mika was born. It's pretty cool to watch her grow and develop and see the contrast in the two sisters.

We should have Carmen home in 3-5 weeks. We spent a wonderful week in Guatemala last week and were wonderfully surprised when we got home to have emails and voice messages saying we are going back to get her so soon. She is a truly delightful baby and I feel so blessed to have her in our life. Lauren went with us to Guatemala and absolutely loved her sister. Lauren cried when we had to give her back (we had her for 4 days at our hotel).

When she is legally ours (should be any day!), I'll post a picture.

We're at 21 weeks here - since DD was born at 29 weeks we'll see what happens this time around. I started the progesterone shots a few weeks ago so that is not fun, but hopefully it helps. Baby is very wiggly which is always nice and reassuring! Lots of dr's appts and u/s in my future, here's hoping this one stays put for a while!

Hey, thanks for asking and starting this thread Kris. It was nice to read up on everyone.

Layla is weird. Lol, she just looks so smart and above it all alreadly. Whenever we're all in the same room playing I think she watches us with a look on her face like "Who put me with these twinkies?"

She gets lots of tummy time and nurses like a champ. The kid eats like a trucker. My boobs always hurt but I think we've finally banished thrush once and for all.

When I put her over my shoulder her little hand wraps around a curl of my hair and I love it so much. She loves bath time, no screaming at all, and Dh does bath duty with both kids. So, it's sweet to see him with his little girl.

Peyton loves his little sister. He's been playing rough lately so I have to watch but he's pretty gentle with her for the most part. He shares his trains so that's a good sign. I can't wait to watch them grow up together.

I just love to hold her and stare at her and let her check me out. :)

I'm really tired and achy in my pelvic area. This pregnancy has definitely been harder than my first - and my first was not a good one. I can't wait until this baby is born. I almost cried with joy when my OB assured me that the most he'd let me go past my due date is one week. I know it's not popular here, but I think I would go insane if I had to wait two weeks.

Due January 3rd with my first! I really can't wait! I am very excited, and not so aprehensive about l/d as I thought I might be at this stage.
I am very VERY itchy!!!!! No matter how much lotion I put on the tum, it is never enough!
The peanut is still active, especially after I eat, and does a whole neat "baby shark" thing across my tum a lot at night.
I could do without the Rocky Balboa punches to my cervix, though. :0
I am puffing up a lot more these days, but the doc doesn't seem concerned.
There are days when I just want the baby OUT (like today) and begin playing "Let's Make A Deal" with the peanut, like "If you're out before Christmas, Mama will buy you a car for your 17th birthday."
I don't think the baby understands negotiation tactics yet, sadly.
I just want to meet the lil' one!!!!!

Jaci is 4 months old and is such a wonderful little addition to our family! I honestly can't get enough of her. She is so laid back and LOVES to snuggle with me. I have to say she is quite the mamma's girl. Of course she could be so good because she is usually always being held of carried in the Baby Bjorn.

She is rolling over and really starting to grab at objects. She is so much smaller than the boys ever were. At 4 months Jackson was 17 lbs. and Tyler was 19.5 lbs. Jaci is only 14 lbs on the dot. It is so nice having a baby who stayed a baby for awhile. She does seem a little slower doing some things but she was a month early so I try to take that into consideration. I'm in no hurry for her to grow up.

She doesn't sleep well at night at all but we have been in no sleep mode for 4 years now so I guess we are used to it. :) I am so incredibly sad that she is my last baby. My OB and Jacob really didn't want me to have anymore children after each of the last 2 pregnancies got increasingly more difficult with pre-term labor so I had my tubes tied after my CS. I know in my heart that it was the right thing to do but I am really sad about it. Jaci is the kind of baby who would make you want to have 10. She is just perfect!

It is so nice to hear everyone's updates!

Just chugging along being pregnant. I got much larger much faster this time, which makes me worry about what I'll be like in May! We passed our AFP screening and we're doing the level 2 u/s next week (and we'll find out if we're having a boy or girl!) E is sometimes a complete angel and sometimes an insane circus acrobat. He is getting a doll for Christmas, but as I unpacked it last night I told DH my prediction that he will only play with the magnetic pacifier, and ignore the fact that it's a baby doll. :)

I had that itchiness with ds. You could try hydrocortisone on it. I though mine was my skin stretching but it was some kind of pg rash that lasted from 40 wks to about 10 days pstpartum.

Riley is a little sausage.

I haven't gone in for a weight check recently, but I'd guess that he's at least 12lbs, after being 9lbs at birth. I thought Nathan was an easy baby, but his little brother is tons easier. He sleeps, he eats, he gets gassy every so often but is relatively easy to soothe, and he's just started smiling after he gets fed. I love that. He already has a favorite song - I was watching a documentary about Elvis Presley and his gospel music on PBS, and when 'Peace in the Valley' came on, he stopped and listened, and then started cooing. Now I sing it when he's fussy, and it almost always does the trick. I love that. He also likes the variety of Christmas songs I've been singing to him.

Nathan is doing really well as a big brother. He doesn't seem jealous, and is constantly trying to be helpful (whether he manages it is another story). He's very proud, that's for sure, and tells everyone about his baby brother.

I'll tack on an update about our new house. There have been a few things needing work here and there, but we're now all settled in and loving it. The basic gist is that I get tons of help with childcare, I do the cooking, and MIL does the cleaning. It's working out really, really well, and I'm so happy.

Happy Holidays to everyone!!!

Still pregnant with just over a month to go. I'm working too hard, trying to finish up at the hospital so that I don't have to take any call once I get back from maternity leave. I've been having lots of hip and pelvic pain and managed to get to a physical therapist once, but haven't been back since. So I walk slowly and take longer to get through the day, but so far, so good. The groundhog seems to be more mellow already than Jonathan - J would always kick vigorously if I rested a book on my tummy, but this little guy doesn't seem to mind.

Hopefully we can spend a day or two right around New Year's getting a big boy room put together and making the transition.

32 weeks here,,,,almost 33. I am tired and curious if this baby is a girl or a boy. DH knows the sex and has not "slipped" (well except once...but I couldn't figure it out)so I am really looking forward to labor.
Someone made a really stupid comment to me today.
Her: Oh my Gosh, I can totally tell that you have gained a ton of weight. I can see it in your face. It is really drastic.

Me: I actually have been weight stable since Thanksgiving.

Her: Are you sure?

5 minutes later....crying in the bathroom.

Seriously, what is wrong with people?

Glad everyone is doing well....can't wait to meet the next round of BBB babies!

Jarred is doing really great. He is in 18 mo clothes and finally slowed down a bit in growth (he was 98% for height for a long time, now 75%). He is cruising on the furniture so I think walking is right around the corner. During a diaper change he decided he wanted off the couch so he slid down feet first on his belly it was quite a site and he made a smooth and safe landing. His favorite things of late, gymnatics while nursing, Zweiback toast, and cheerioes. He will not eat pureed food but give him a green bean and he is in heaven. He has seven teeth and does a decent job getting it chewed up. :) So I have several containers of pureed baby food that will never be consumed by him, lol. Sleep is o.k. not the best and he is getting harder to settle, wants to move around and pull on mom's hair etc. He is still sleeping with me so because DD is sleeping with DH, DH and I rarely sleep in the same bed. Which is o.k. it won't be forever.

Thanks for asking, not that he really qualifies either, lol. :)

What a dork, sometimes it amazes me the things people will say to a pregnant woman. I'm sorry for the not very nice comment, it would have made me cry too.

I'm also 32 weeks and doing pretty good, although by evening I am more tired. Starting to daydream about what this baby will be like! Actually, it is so much fun! The baby's coming home outfit is in our closet...wrapped in a couple of brown paper bags. It's pink or blue so if I REALLY want to know....I can look!

And Lisa....yeah...how could you say that to anyone...let alone a preggo?
For her information...I have only gained 19 pounds...and I have been stable since Thanksgiving. Seriously...people are clueless!

Thanks for asking Kris!!

First I love reading everyones updates. The kids are just growing up so fast.

Things here are going well... Luci is almost 4 months now and is turning over, sitting in the Bumbo while I cook etc.. She is even more laid back than Curt. I don't know what it is about her but I just want to hold and cuddle her all the time. She loves the sling and the Baby Bjorn so she gets to hang out with me more that way. She started sleeping throught the night at 8 weeks and she's napping very well. We are extremely fortunate so far. She's about 14 lbs and long (about 25 inches already).

Curt who is now almost 22 months and is starting to talk more (finally). New words everyday. He took to the toddler bed really well. So that has gone smoothly. He loves trains and cars right now. He takes them w/him everywhere. When he walks into a room he yells "Boo Mommy!" It's just too cute. Curt went on a long trip w/DH and he did so well on the plane. He just read books and slept the whole time. He's also discovered how to be super Whinny! We are working on that.

It's been so much fun having two. It took some adjusting but we've really come a long way. DH and I may even have time to ourselves again. ;-) We are also Baptizing Luci on New Years Eve and getting ready for the big day.

Very boring so far. I go in for my 17 week check this week, then have to make all the appts for my AFP, ultrasound, genetic counseling, and amnio. We're declining the amnio again, and I'm trying to see if we can get out of the genetic counseling again. Last time it was by default, but we still had to sign a form.

This baby is riding much higher, and I'm showing a lot more already. Looking forward to the ultrasound :-)

Thanks for starting this thread, Kris! DD is almost 7 months so we barely qualify for this thread :) Everyone is doing great. DD is wonderful. She's very laid back and sweet, and totally unlike DS. She's 19lb 5oz, and eats solids like a champ though she doesn't have any teeth yet. She sits really well, has awesome fine motor skills and is trying to crawl. Although I'm not sleeping much, parenting has been great this time around.

Glad to see everyone's updates. Congratulations to you all, and best wishes to everyone with new babies or soon-to-be DCs!

I'm so glad it worked!! I was scratching myself raw for several days so I'm glad you have some relief.

How exciting for you! Southern babies are the best! (Says the Louisiana native, lol.)

Still pregnant here. :-)

Doc says everything looks great. At my latest appointment (last Thursday) he said the heartbeat is super-strong. I don't know why, but that made me so proud, lol.

The chiropractor solved all my hip pain, so I'm pretty comfortable. And I'm finally getting adjusted to seeing my new, larger self in the mirror, which is nice (and I know DH is happy that I'm no longer b!tching about looking like a whale, lol). My only complaint is some discomfort in my rib area and mild heartburn at night, but I guess that's all pretty common.

Childbirth and baby care classes start in January - I'm SO excited!

ETA - Baby got way more Christmas presents from our families than DH or I did...how crazy is that?!?

I can't believe you only have a month to go! I am so happy for you but it seems like last month that I found out you were newly pregnant :)

Hope you are able to stay comfortable. I am sure the big boy room will be a huge hit.

Some of you might remember my posts a few months ago about the intensive bleeding I had during my 1st tri, the empty ges sach that showed up on the u/s (which later was dianosed as a large cyst in my placenta), and the complete placenta previa. However, things have changed for the better and I am SO HAPPY!!! The cyst can no longer be found, the bleeding stopped, and the placenta has moved up! Yippee!!!!

And here's a recent pic from an u/s that I had done last week - isn't it cool?!

Everything is going good, well, now that i've started working FT i'm pretty stressed and tired and the computer is the last thing i want to look at when i come home. plus the kids and i just keep getting sick over and over again, i'm hoping that this time it's not strep :( honestly, i feel like $hit!

BUT, i do have my quad test on 1/2 and my u/s on 1/9...so i'll be back for an update.

Things are good but busy here. I'm adjusting to life w/ 2, which really is like life w/ 1 and 1/4 kids since Ella still sleeps all of the time. It has made for an easier transition at least!

Ella's nursing well and at 2.5 weeks old is up to 9lbs 6 oz from 8lbs 4 oz at birth. She's sleeping well at night but that may change when she wakes up more overall.

I'm a little worried about this funky cry she has when she inhales, but so far the ped thinks it isn't anything to worry about as of now. It still freaks me out a bit...she kinda squeaks when she inhales for her cry.

Logan is loving being a big brother and the transition has gone better than expected, although I'm sure there will be tough days ahead eventually. We figured out tandem nursing after a few days and things went better once I found a way to juggle nursing two to sleep etc.

Congrats to all of the new parents and looking forward to new babies arriving soon.
