My sis's dauschaund travels a lot between us (2 1/2 hr drive) and her boyfriends family (4 hr drive) so for Christmas I am getting her a backpack with doggie travel stuff in it. I have the backpack and bowls and treats. What else should I put in there?

TIA!

I don't have pets but Nature's Miracle would be welcome I'm sure esp with car travel!

Poopie bags! Maybe a new leash and couple of chew toys also.

Oh, too bad you have the backpack -- I LOVE these dog breed totes from LL Bean:

I would add a nylabone, a kong (both come in sizes for smaller breeds) -- they are good for entertaining a dog via chewing when they are in the travelling. Maybe a "stuffy"?

I recommend stainless steel bowls over ceramic. Our vet says they are more sanitary.

We also have a travel water bowl, made of backpack material, and a travel thermos/jug that we fill with water for our dog's road trips.

Perhaps most important is doggy id. An engraved dog tag with dog's name, home addy and cell phone number that works while on vacation. If you really want to go to town, add in a gift certificate for the dog to be microchipped by his vet.

Very thoughtful gift! :)
