Can you use a french press to brew loose tea? DH looked at it the other day and pronounced it possible.

I need to be able to brew tea away from home...

Thanks in advance.

Yes, although you will need to strain it really well. :)

haven't personally tried a french press, so no help there. do you need to brew it by the pot or by the cup? i used to heat water in the microwave and then use one of these to brew tea at work:

they make a bigger 32oz. size as well. you just pour water in, add the loose tea and let it steep. then when it's done steeping, you put this thing on top of your mug and it has a little pressure release that strains the tea right into your mug. works great.

That's very useful! I do need to brew more than one cup at a time, but looks like there's a bigger option. Thanks.

Have you tried putting the tea leaves in cheesecloth? just tie off with some string.
