Which way should sheet patterns run?

I bought PBK's A to Z bed line this week and am perplexed by the pattern on the flat sheet. When placed in the correct position, the pattern is upside down, meaning the characters are all heads up towards the bed. I have always thought the pattern on the sheet should run with it being right side up if it was pointed toward the head of the bed.
I hope I am making my point clear with my description. What do you think?

So, if you take the sheet and place it "right side down" on the bed, then add a blanket, then "cuff" the top of the sheet down over it (so now the right side is facing up on the "cuff"), the letters are upside down?

Ditto the pp. You place the flat sheet pattern-side down, and then you fold over the top "cuff", so the pattern on just that cuff shows right-side up, with the characters looking normal (from, say, the perspective of the foot of the bed).

We have these same sheets, btw. Cute!
