I was wondering what other mommas were using. I switched to the diva cup and cloth pad/liners a little less than a year ago and my AF has shortened by a day or day and a half. Has anyone else noticed that happened to them?

Yep. It's been awhile, but my AF definitely shortened by a day or so and I only had one really heavy day instead of two or three. I used the Diva/Cloth Liners combo. Oh, and another side effect? I was no longer itchy; it would get pretty bad with the paper ones. (Before cloth/Diva, I was using pads--tampons were uncomfortable at best. I had no such problems with the Diva.)

Diva cup only - love it!

It took a while to learn when it was *really* opened - it would leak slightly before that.

Now I know how to put it in so that even when it is overfilled, it does not leak - ever. I am so happy with it!!!

I got to be the other vote, b/c I really don't use anything at all. I have the Mirena IUD and basically non-existent periods. After DH gets a vasectomy, I'll get the Mirena out and then see about using the Diva cup.

Yep, mine is much shorter, though heavier. It's not extra painful or anything, actually QUITE the opposite since switching to a menstral cup. I do have to say close to home the first day, though. Sorry if that is TMI!

I've been using disposable pads for years, and finally decided to get the diva cup. Never got to use it though. I got preggo right after it came in the mail LOL!

Currently Bfing and IUD, I am hoping to usurp any chance of getting my period back by BFing long enough for the Mirena to kick in. If it does come back though I'll be using the diva cup (which I already own) and mama cloth (which I'd need to buy).

I voted for disposable pads unfortunately. I just can't do tampons for some weird reason. They are so uncomfortable, and I've tried a million times in the past. Pads are super annoying. I have often wondered if I should give one of those diva/keepers a shot....

You should totally give it a try! Tampons were always dang uncomfortable, but the Diva Cup was so comfortable I sometimes forgot I had it in!

Interesting! I've never heard of the diva cup till now? Where can I get more information on it?

And just curious, why do you all think it shortens the period?

Karoly, if you do an "and" search for Diva Cup in Butts, you'll find a bunch of threads about it. I can't speak for everyone, but I believe that my period was shortened because to some extent, I was sensitive/intolerant to the chemicals that are in disposable pads so it was just irritating everything in that area. I can't find it right now, but there has been at least one post by Amy (daisymommy) where she gave a bunch of references that might shed more light on it.

definintely give it a shot. once you figure it out, it is really great that you:
don't have to buy anything
don't have to carry anything around with you
don't have to panic that is has been too long since you replaced whatever you were using
don't have to worry about the dog stealing your pads out of the trash...

i use something like the diva cup but it is disposable. i use cloth lines with it. they are called instead and can be found at target and such.

Can you use a diva cup if you've had toxic shock syndrome?

i love them sooooooo much, i totally fear the diva cup for some reason and someone told me that these were easier to get in and out so i tried them. i was sure i would be in the er having them remove it but it is really easy to figure out. my ob even said you can rinse it out and reuse the same one a few times in the same cycle no big deal so that is what i do.

There is a Q&A section on the www.divacup.com site that talks about TSS

I cannot say enough good things about the Diva cup. Best $30 I ever spent. :)

I use tampons and pantiliners together. Actually, I wear a pantiliner everyday
for a fresh feeling. :)

Also, I use Summer's Eve Feminine Wash in the shower every morning instead of
soap. I love it! I have used it since high school. This is the most awesome product
ever!
