Oh, Jeanne, big hugs and prayers for a safe, successful surgery & recovery are coming your way. I also pray for comfort, peace, and calm for your family as they await you coming back home. If it is okay, I will have my dad and his church pray for you, too. Infections like this are nothing easy. I cannot imagine what you are going through! And the thought of you crying holding your babes brought tears to my eyes.

Thanks so much fo everyone's good thoughts. By the time I arrived at the hospital I ended up having to get a wheelchair to meet me at the car because I was so weak I couldn't walk. And after the surgery my doc said it was significantly and surprisingly worse than he had anticipated. But it's amazing how much better just getting that thing out of me has made me feel! I still have a temp, but it's much lower, and I'm at home and able to walk around on my own volition. I will be happy when this whole thing is over, but I feel a million times better than I did this morning.

Thank you again. I knew I could count on my BBB friends. :)

I am really, really sick. As many of you many know, I got a Lap Band back in early December. Unfortunately, one of the incisions from the surgery developed staph. I've been fighting it for 6 weeks now, but it hasn't responded to antibiotics. I am having surgery in a coupld of hourse to remove the port part of my band and clean out the infection, and will be having another surgery in a few months to replace it.

Up to now, this hasn't been a big deal. I've just had this sort of general yuckiness going, but haven't really felt bad. Until last night. Around 8 I got hit with horrible, body-wracking chills,a fever and I was crying so hard I couldn't catch my breath. It scared the snot out of me, but really terrified the kids. They've never seen me out of control, and it's hard to comfort them when you can't stop crying. They finally ended up sleeping with me and fell asleep patting my arm and hair saying, "It's okay Mommy. We're here."

I was able to take Tylenol last night to break my fever, but can't this morning. My temp is hovering around 102 and I feel like crap. Even though intellectually I know everything is going to be okay, and the surgery is going to fix it, there is a primal part of me that keeps thinking if I live in another place or time I would die. I know I'm overreacting, but I really, really feel horrible.

Thanks for dealing with the feverish rantings of this crazy person. If you have good thoughts, prayers, positive energy, whatever, I'll take it.

Wow. Thanks so much everyone. You know how to make a girl feel loved. :)

The good news is that the infection is doing much, much better. The bad news is that my fever came back and hasn't gone away. My doc did bloodwork because he was concerned, and it came back as viral instead of infection. I think I have the flu and just had really rotten timing about it. Two towns near mine have had to shut down their schools because of the flu, so I'm making an educated guess that that's what I'm dealing with. So I'm slugging down water and alternating between hovering beneath my comforter shivering, or having to change jammies because I'm drenched in sweat. But honestly, if I have to feel crappy, I would much rather it be this than the infection.

So thanks again all. I really, really appreciate it.
