Like on "The New Adventures of the Old Christine", she has a huge 'C'
hanging in her kitchen.

Like on Rachael Ray's cooking show and she has the big 'R' on the kitchen
wall.

Where can you buy these big letters? I have seen the single letters for sale
in catalogs like Ballard Design but they aren't that big. Help!

Pottery Barn *used* to have them. You can usually just get one from a sign maker.

My grandparents had a whole collection of "D"s for their last name. Some were from craft places, others were from woodmakers. I know that one in particular was from an old business's sign - it had fallen off the building and was missing a big chip in the side.

I would do all different designs. I just saw a guy that makes wooden letters (big ones) on eBay. I bet he could probably make you whatever size you wanted.

Good luck

I'm thinking I would have liked your grandparents "D" from the old business sign.

I really want a totally unique-looking letter. One that looks like I got it from
some old restaurant sign. That would be cool.

I have something similar from Ballard Design but I want something more unique.
I want everyone that walks into my house to say, "Wow! Cool Letter! Where did
you get it?" :)

Thanks for your help!!

You can get a lot of different fonts and sizes from this place - I would order an unpainted wood one, paint it a metallic gold or silver and rough it up with sandpaper.

We have a large "M" in our living room and everyone comments on it.

Here's another one:

We bought letters for Peyton's room back before he was born from this place (wow, I just looked and the site has really grown since then). They were great, no probs. I think they've got good examples of thickness and fonts to help you decide what to get.

Thanks, Sheila!!

What size letters did you buy? I wanted to buy a big "S" for our front room
and I don't know how big to go.

But, you bought Peyton's whole name though, right? I can get away with going
alot bigger since it will only be one letter.

I'm confused and my husband is going to think it's totally ridiculous to have this
huge "S" on the wall but I love monogramming. :) I am going to monogram
the wall.

I would love more details too, please. Haven't a clue and am definitely the type who needs clear instructions. Thanks. :)

Sorry to hijack your post Corie, but this made me remember that I was looking for a K for Katie's room. Does anyone remember the E that Rachel had for Emma on Friends when she was living with Joey. It was plush like a silk covered pillow and had beading around the edges. Anyone know where I can find something like that?

I found them, but if anyone else is looking here is the link:

it's actually the same company that did Emma's E pillow.

If you are looking for sizing help, you might try buying a frame like say a 20x24 and put it up in the place you want the letter, it might help give you an idea. Not a frame with a picture, but just a frame. Another idea, if you have access to Microsoft publisher or possibly any other publishing software this might work. Publisher has an option to make a poster, make use a font that is an option print it out in "poster" size, cut it out and try it out on the wall. The second idea would be a lot of work but if you are really concerned with how the font would look this might be an idea to try...

Thanks for the link--now I'm thinking about getting a big letter too for our entryway wall that leads upstairs.

Would you mind sharing a picture of the letter you have in your living room as well as info about its height, thickness, and font? I'd really appreciate seeing yours, if you're willing to share. :)

Mary,

I actually really like the key. I would probably hang it in a mudroom where I would
hang my actual key rack.

But, if I told my husband that it was the key to my big heart, he would just laugh
hysterically. And, then, he would probably magically pull the smallest key known
to mankind out of his pocket and say that *this* key was the key to my heart. haha

We are a very sentimental couple, as you can see. :)
