this is something i've been wondering and the pp about backyardingans got me really thinking about this and i though i'd post it. Where's the adult rabbit in this situation and why does poor ruby bear the brunt of discipline and care for her little brother. I especially dislike the episode where ruby has to get up multiple times in the night with her brother and change his pajamas and put him back to bed. Anyone have the answer to this?

they're out with Charlie Brown's folks...

My take on Ruby is that she's a complete control freak. Why does poor Max have to do everything her way, anyhow?

LOL, Alicia I was just going to say the same thing! I've never even seen the cartoon in question, but I instantly thought of Charlie Brown when I read "where's the parents"

We had a discussion about this a long time ago. ;)

My thought is that they're probably out getting loaded. Hell, if I had to listen to Ruby 24/7, that's where I would be. :P

I always wondered about Dora's family...

She's out wandering in the Jungle, riding on blue trains, over mountains and things like that- with no adult supervision...just a monkey that wears boots.

ITA agree with PP about Ruby being a control freak. But, she probably learned that from Bunny Scouts.

LOL! I saw this episode last week and thought the exact same thing. I had never seen the show before and initially thought she was the mother but then realized she was the sister. How odd!

Don't even get me started on Dora and Diego.

Sophie will actually tell strangers that she has a brother at home and his name is Diego. People generally look at me in disbelief. I am SO sick of explaining that it's a TV show and her brother is 'imaginary'.

*sigh*

How long do bunnies live? Maybe Ruby is an old fart in Bunny years.

Like me...In dog years, I should be dead.

I actually asked DH the other day where a mouse would go to obtain a commercial driver's license. That mouse has quite a resume-she can drive a train, a bus, a combine harvester and fly a plane. You go girl! :)

I ALWAYS think about this - at least they have Grandma around. As for the backyardigians - I never thought about it as they are just out playing in their shared back yards and always invite one another over for dinner saying "My mom is making......"

I used to think Ruby was an over-bearing dictator and a real spoil sport until I realized tht Max is a real pain! She never gets to do anything by herself and is always looking after him while her friends get to go to the carnival or bunny scouts etc... Either way - my kid love them and the books.

ROTFL! Wow K, ya old fart :D.

You know I have been wondering why they always kill the parents off in cartoons like Bambi, The Lion King, Land Before Time, etc. This is where the anarchy starts, cartoons ;).

I know this is an old topic, but DS1 was watching this show yesterday on Noggin and so I asked him if Ruby was Max's mom. He told me, "No, she's his sister." So I followed up by asking where their parents were and he said, "I think they got eaten by some mean ugly animal. Maybe it was a fox or some other animal that eats bunnies." So there you go! From a 4 yr. old.
