So, DS has converted from the crib to something without 4 walls. How'd nap do? This poll is not about sleeping at night, just nap during the day. Tho, if you'd like to comment on how going down for the night was impacted, feel free. Thanks, All, for the participating in this Crib Transition series of polls! -- Fairy

Naps fine with nannies, not with me on my days off.
Great working mom guilt, there!

He would play in his room before and after the nap but he was playing in his crib too. He did play a lot more but he slept just as long. He would play for like an hour on each end and sleep 2-3 hours. That was a nice daily break. :)

He would fall asleep on the floor for a while.

He did get into mischief once when he reached the diaper cream and spread it everywhere!

I voted that naps kept on going, but do have to add that with both of my sons, there was a two-week transition period where they tested the limits at naptime and tried to come out, never went to sleep and just played, etc. Right around two weeks, they got over the novelty and just went to sleep as they had before. Of course, during that time, I worried to death that they'd never nap again.

DS gave up his naps fairly soon after he transitioned, but he has always been my challenging sleeper. DD is still in her crib at 33 months, she's a different kid, so hopefully the conversion won't be so complete.

I didn't vote. At the time of the bed switch, DS napped on the couch. He continued to do that for about 2 months when I just decided he needed to be in his room. So, he moved up very easily really.

Prior to the bed at night, he was sleeping on the floor in our room and that's why he napped on the couch.

I was not sure how to vote, as we had an issue but I dealt with it in a way that not everyone would. Dd was 3 when she transitioned, and the main thing was that she would get out of bed and play with her toys instead of napping. What I did was to remove all toys, except for some stuffed animals, from her room. They are kept either downstairs in our combination office/playroom (where she plays most of the time anyway) or in my room. It has made a junk room out of my room, but that was a sacrifice I was willing to make! A year later, I think she is now really outgrowing naps (although she still will take one every once in a while), and I am talking with her about transitioning the toys back now.

DD actually slept better, quicker, easier at nap time than at bedtime and never gave us trouble.
Bedtime was another story...I must have sat in her room for weeks before I could get her to stay in bed and go to sleep!!!

Nap time went down the road with the crib.
