I just saw this article and haven't seen any mention of it yet here so I thought I would link to the article. http://health.msn.com/dietfitness/articlepage.aspx?cp-documentid=100156337>1=9033

Along with the peanut butter from earlier this week there are now concerns about cantaloupe and some Earth's Best baby food: organic 2 apple peach barley wholesome breakfast, EB organic wholesome breakfast variety pack, EB organic 2 apple peach barley. HTH someone.

Thanks for posting! We usually don't do blends, but DS eats a lot of Earth's Best. Scary!

I had been planning on introducing DD#2 to her first solids meal with some Earth's Best this weekend ... but lost my enthusiasm and somehow didn't get around to it. I'll wait a few more days to see if the recall expands.

After reading the company statement, I'm satisfied with the EB company response. The baby food is being recalled only because the pH was wrong in the jars (so bacteria MIGHT grow in them under the right conditions).

No bacteria have been detected in the recalled lots.

No kids have gotten sick. The company has acted quickly to prevent a problem before it happens.

In contrast, the PB has been making people sick since August and they just did the recall. Granted, it took them a long time to figure out that PB was the culprit (and salmonella contamination in PB still doesn't make sense), but I have more confidence in a company that does a proactive recall than in one that does one after people are sick or injured.

I still buy Graco and Britax even though both have recalled the car seats I bought from them -- but in both cases, they found and fixed a potential problem before kids were injured.

So... after I get over my hesitation, I'll probably keep using Earth's Best. Although, I still haven't gone back to eating bagged salads after last summer's e coli outbreak, so I'm not sure when I'll feel ok about it.
