I am researching companies to potentially start working for to earn some extra money, and I wanted to see which you like the best. I know some people hate these things, so if that's the case, that's Ok too. :) But I'd love to hear from those of you who have been to some or all of these and can give me your opinion on them. And let me know if there's any I've missed.

TIA!

How about wine? The Traveling Vineyard sells wines and the home party is essentially a wine tasting - a lot of fun and can appeal to males and females. The time I went to a party, I actually forgot I was at a "sales" party...or maybe I just had too much wine :)

How cool! Thanks for the suggestion! I'll have to look into that.

What about Tastefully Simple? It's consumable so essentially if you can hook people to the product it'll be alot of re-orders!

I like their products. Besides Pampered Chef, it is probably the only thing I would buy over and over.

I went to my first Taste of Home Entertaining party yesterday. There's also Southern Living at Home. I think their merchandise is very similar and have purchased quite a few things from SLAH. One of my friends sold Homemade Gourmet for a while. Good luck!

I'm not into housewares or food, but I AM into clothes. There are lots of home show lines for kids and ladies - If you're into that kind of thing, I think it could be easier than the other options because there are only two times of year that you need to work - when the new lines come out.

The only parties I never moan when I get an invitation to are Pampered Chef. I love the products and always find something I'm excited to buy.

I recently went to a piggies and paws party and it was great! If you are a scrapbooker it would be something to look into.

DeMarle! Their stuff is expensive, but it has a lifetime warranty, and is fantastic.

ETA: This is one of the only at home parties I've gone to that I didn't regret, and bought stuff. My husband, who is a tightwad, was so impressed he encouraged me to buy more.

Here's an article that I saw yesterday with a short list of companies:
http://jobs.aol.com/gallery/get-paid-to-party

I've never liked Party Lite parties as the sales part is too much. I like Pampered Chef a lot.

ETA: I was going to PM you about another company that is not on your list. I am a consultant for them and I'm not sure I can say which here or not. But, I can't PM you. If you're interested, PM me, please!

I have a friend who just started with Lia Sophia Jewelry. (nice jewelry) she has some great benefits. chances for free jewelry, trips. and of course cash. i'm not sure on the percentage but i think it is pretty good. + She worked for partylite and hated it. i wonder what the benefits for pampered chef would be?? i also think it depends on where you live to what people are looking for. good luck.. i hope it all works out

Look up www.dsa.org

It's the Direct Sellers Association.

They list every company that is registered- You'd be surprised at how many there are...

The Body Shop at Home
Crayola at Home
All the Jewelry ones

Also- Close To Home is a good scrapbooking/card making company

My account says I have a new message, but when I go to my inbox it's not there.

Why don't you email me through my profile and hopefully that will go through.

Sorry!

I'm kind of a home party junkie. It's embarassing, but true.

The parties I NEVER blow off are -

Tastefully Simple - Use their stuff every day. I have a consultant who lives close enough that I generally call when I'm running low.

Discovery Toys - Love the quality of the toys and how each toy has so many different uses so I can play differently with the same toy and each child.

Pampered Chef - Use their stuff daily as well

Usborne Books - LOVE these! We have a ton and my consultant now calls me every couple of months for new orders. :)

Cookie Lee Jewelry - I have a good friend who is a consultant, so I can't blow them off! But I like the quality and the price.

Weekender Clothing - Just went to one of the shows last week. Online I think their stuff looks like crap, but I was really surprised how much I liked it when I tried it on. I bought a couple of pieces and will probably buy a few more in the future.

I used to sell for Do Re Me & You. And while I like their products, I don't think I would do it again.

Just my read on the ones I go to. :)

ETA: When I was selling, I used to go to a bunch of vendor fairs as well. The consultants for the companies I listed above almost always did really well.

StampinUp! I LOVE their scrapbooking supplies and they're pretty competitive with some of the national brands (Hobby Lobby, Michaels). Of course, if you don't like crafts that is completely out, but I use their supplies for everything - invitations, scrapbooks, school projects, church crafts, decorating the house, etc. I used to be a consultant for them when we lived overseas and I only stopped because I didn't want to have to deal with taxes (I didn't make enough for federal taxes, but here I would have to submit state taxes - yuck!) They were a great company to work for - very helpful, very friendly, very consultant oriented.

ETA - I forgot to mention that I still buy their products even though I'm no longer a consultant, boy I HATE having to pay retail now! Oh, and my best friend is a Pampered Chef consultant and she loves it!

Thanks everyone!! This has been extremely helpful. I reached out to a few via email last night, and I'm narrowing it down, sort of. ;) I'm debating between the wine, pampered chef, gourmet foods, tupperware, jewelry and a stamp/scrapbooking company. Wow, that's really narrowed down, isn't it? ;) LOL!

I am a consultant for none of the companies you have listed. The products I sell are shall I say for late night activities. I have found that husbands are more likely not to complain about the spouses spending money if they think they might see some benefit from it.

In fact when I have hosted couples parties, my sales have doubled their average. It does mean I work most Friday and Saturday nights, but I take off one weekend a month for a date weekend.

i just asked my friend what she made off of each sale.. she starts out making 30% of her sales. for every $1500 she sells. she gets $200 in free jewelry. she will eventually earn 40% of the sales. i don't know how this compares to other companies. good luck.. i am excited for you
