I just noticed this morning that our older DD has her FOURTH staph infection (MRSA) in I'd say 6-7 months. Her doctors office isn't open yet but I'm going to take her in today so she can get another round of antibiotics. However, I'm getting very frustrated that she seems so prone to this now & all they seem to do is give her more antibiotics. Has anyone ever dealt with this?? Is there anything MORE that can be done? I just want to get rid of it for good. I know one of the best ways to prevent this is by washing hands & we've been VERY diligent but she still seems to get them. UGH! It's so frustrating because it hurts her. Luckily I caught this one pretty quick....the last time I didn't & it got big & really painful. My poor little girl. :(

I have with myself, and Rachel (Rachels) just got over a 6 month or so run with one.

I assume if you know it's a MRSA that you've had the infection cultured? Have you been referred to an infectious disease doctor yet? I was told if I have one more I'll be sent to one. I would definitely seek out a specialist at this point.

(((Hugs))) to you and your DD. They are truly awful. :(

I would definitely ask to see an infectious disease specialist. Have they tested the rest of you (nose/rectal swab) even if you don't have wounds? Have you looked into ways to bolster her immune system? Ugh, so sorry, MRSA is nasty, and is so very common anymore...

They haven't been able to culture it as we keep catching them early...no pus or open wound. She has to go back tomorrow to see what it looks like. He's got her on 2 different antibiotics, she has to bathe alone (usually she does it with little sister...who thankfully hasn't caught this), use her own hand towels, Bactraband in the nose, tub sprayed down with Lysol after every use, clean jammies & underwear every night (obvious), and all bedding (including quilts, our bedding, etc) has to be washed. Mostly just common sense stuff.

I never thought about having us tested & her ped didn't mention it. I'll call our family doctor today.
