Please help me!! I've been sick all week and haven't done much of anything to plan food for DS's 5th birthday party. We've invited a few of his close friends over, so there'll be 5 kids and about 5-6 adults. The party is from 1-3pm so I'm not serving lunch. I desperately need finger food snack ideas that don't require lots of time. I'd love for them to sort of go with the pirate theme, but I have NO ideas on how to do this. Here's what I've come up with so far:
* fruit tray (apple wedges, bananas, orange sections, grapes) with dip
* Jello jigglers (grape) cut in rectangles and decorated with the Jolly Roger (think pirate flag)
* Colored popcorn (looks like jewels?)
* Cocoa Krispies balls (looks kind of like cannon balls?)
* Standards like chips and dip, pretzels, etc.

Drinks will be milk, water, apple juice and pop (for the adults).

Any other suggestions?

TIA,
Sarah

Go to this website-- they have some very clever ideas. I put pirate in the search box and it came up with the following party ideas. Don't be too stressed out-- have fun!

Good ideas. :)

We did a treasure hunt party last year.

We did a jell-o thing last year that may be easier....clear cups (I used little Gladware snack sized bowls), filled with blue jell-o and when the jell-o got a bit firm I put in gummy fish. They looked good for a few hours but then after that the colors of the gummies started to break down. But, they were very cute.

How about Pirate's Booty? They sell it for sure at Trader Joe's and Whole Foods. They're like cheese puffs.

YOu could skewer the fruit or even get those sword shaped toothpicks.

I made the Treasure Chest cake from Family Fun last year. They have 1 other pirate cakes too if you are interested. The TC cake was actually pretty easy. And it looked awesome. I put it on a cookie sheet with crushed grahm crackers to look like sand, candy seashells and candy rocks.

I did a tablescape with his Little People Pirate stuff.

I lucked out last year w/ ds' party b/c it was timed with the release of Pirates of the Caribbean 2 so there were all these awesome M&Ms out (the peanut ones were all shades of gold and the plain ones were gem stone colors). You can actually still find bags lingering at some stores (I just saw some at TRU). Or you can go to a candy store where they sell dif't M&Ms and get some gemstone colored ones. I also bought those Hershey's Nuggets since they look like treasure chests.

This website has great pirate party ideas. This is a link to something called Shark's Blood Punch:

I really think just your ideas will be fine. Great, actually. Maybe even more food than you will need but always better too much than too little! :)

Have fun!!
