So it has been 2 1/2 yrs since DD #1 was born and now it is time to pack again. All I can remember last time is that I overpacked! And this time we have DD#1 to remember to bring things for.

So if anyone has a minute to help me put together a list. I would really appreciate it.

for mom:

comfy socks to wear through labor
flip flops for the shower
a robe if you desire
a nursing gown if you want, but beware it will get ruined
toiletries (don't forget body wash/shampoo, you're gonna need a shower)
your own pillow
breast pads (my hospital didn't have any)
a going home outfit
uderwear you don't mind ruining
sanitary pads so you don't have to wear one of those phone books home
chapstick
ponytail holders

for baby:
at least two going home outfits (you need a spare, one smaller than the other is good as well)
car seat
a couple blankets
wipes (my hospital had them but they sucked)
baby book so you can get the footprints

don't forget:
cameras (video and still if you have them)
extra batteries
charger for video camera (if you have one)
extra tapes for video camera
insurance card
HR paperwork to add baby to insurance

i think that's everything we packed besides our laptop. if you're trying for an unmedicated birth there may be more things you want to include (focus object, aromatherapy stuff, birthing ball, etc.). HTH!

To add to what was already posted (which is a great list!)

snacks for you and DH
phone numbers of those you want to call (or just double check that they're in your cell phone)

I overpacked this time, but it's so much better to have everything you need just in case.

Good luck!!

Here was my list:
Birthing Plan
Gift basket for nurses
Birthing Ball
My Brest Friend or Maternity V pillow (I ended up using just the V pillow and it was great for nursing)
Lansinoh
Crockpot with warm compresses (didn't end up using this, because pushing phase was so short)
Slippers
Going home outfit for baby
Infant carseat
Going home outfit for me
Sibling gift for Kaya
Camera (still and video)
MP3 player with Hypnobabies scripts
Snacks (dried fruit, nuts, whatever I felt like eating)
Water bottle (plus Emergen-C packets and Apple Cider Vinegar)
Cell phone with phone numbers
Baby name book (no, I didn't have a definite name yet)
Hypnobabies scripts, just in case
Rescue Remedy and other homeopathics
Therma strip (3M, basically an 8 hour heating pad that wraps around your body and feels absolutely wonderful when you have back labor)

Here is what I brought:

bed pillow and nursing pillow
Change of clothes for mom and baby to come home in
Snacks and drinks for dad
Magazines or books
Toiletry bag (just toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo/conditioner, soap, deodorant -- I certainly wasn't in the mood to primp)
Nursing Bra (if you are BF)
Bathrobe
List of phone numbers and doctor/insurance info
Socks
Flipflops

Also, if you don't have a private room for post partum, one thing that came in really handy which my roommate lent me were disposable earplugs. I was rooming in, and could still hear DS cry, but it blocked out all the background noise from outside my door and let me rest. I will definitely keep that in mind if DC #2 ever comes along.
