I just did something similar for a baby shower gift. It worked out great!

I'd leave it unwrapped. Sounds like a great gift!

You could line the basket with a receiving blanket and then pull up the corners over the items inside and tie with a bow. Otherwise, I'd just bring it without any wrapping.

I've assembeled a shower gift that is kind of like a gift basket. The "basket" is two canvas totes from the registry, and it's filled with registry items plus a couple of our favorie toys and books and odds and ends.

I could stick the whole thing in a gift bag and be done with it, but the basket presentation is cuter, and I think easier to manage for opening.

I have seen "wrapping" that is sheer fabric gathered around a basket and tied with a bow. I could go to the fabric store and attempt this.

Or I'm thinking of taking it in unwrapped with a card tucked in. It should still be fun for her to gp through the contents (also unwrapped).

Or is this just not right?

My SIL just had twin boys, I got her two canvas diaper bags from Pottery Barn Kids (found them on sale for 19.99) and put diapers in the bottom and filled the rest with goodies. I did have their names monogrammed on the front, not wrapping, no bow, it was the hit of the shower...

cutest gift presentation at any of my showers hands down was an unwrapped tub with rubber duckies, hooded towels and other bath goodies. i say go unwrapped, add some really pretty ribbon as a bow to jazz it up if you think it needs it. sounds like a great gift.

I think it's perfectly fine as is. As you said, it'll be fun for her to go through the basket. When I had a shower a number of "wrappable items' were unwrapped because they were just big y'know? The only reason I can see for wrapping it in the fabric or plastic is if you're afraid the contents might spill out while getting to the shower.

I think it's perfectly appropriate, and sounds lovely.

If you are really concerned about it, you could just add some tissue paper inside the bag, so the canvas tote itself truly mimics a gift bag.
