2005+ Honda Ody recall -- x-post with Car Seats

Mods, feel free to delete as I've x-posted this as a safety issue in car seats.... Posting here for traffic.

I just got a safety recall on my 2005 Ody in the mail yesterday. My Ody is a Canadian spec'd one, but it was built in the US, so not sure if US spec'd ones are affected or not. I also don't know which years are affected.

The fuel pump relay needs to be replaced. If it craps out while you are driving, it could cause a crash (think about if your engine died while making a left turn, or on the highway -- ugh!).

Anyway, I called my dealer right away and an hour later, they had my van in the shop and the repair done. I think it must be a pretty significant safety issue as they seemed eager to get my van in asap.

Just an FYI as I know there are a number of Ody owners here.

My Dh told me this is true with Accords as well, so we are waiting to hear from the dealer. If I don't hear soon I'm going to call them myselves.

That makes sense as the 05 and 06 Ody's share the same tranny as the Accord. Apparently the 07 Ody's use the Ridgeline tranny....

Is this just for the 2005 model or does it include 2006 as well? DH and I have a 2006 and have not received any kind of notice as yet.

No idea, the letter didn't say if it was all Ody's, just particular ones or years. You can just call your deal and they will run your VIN and check. FWIW, I just got my notice yesterday.

Yeah, I was kinda nonchalant about the letter until I reread it and thought about when my engine could stall. The whole left turn thing freaked me out -- I took a different route to the dealership that minimized my left turns!

Definitely make that appointment.... Better safe than sorry! :)

Thanks for the info Melissa. I just called my dealer. My Odyssey is not currently part of the recall (of course, you never know in the future).

Great news -- so maybe it is just the '05s? Who knows.... Wouldn't it be nice if they posted stuff like this on their website or put the info in the letter??!? I hate that car manufacturers treat the public like they are idiots.... :( Grrr!
