featherbeds -- do they go above the sheet or under it?

I was shopping for one today and was told at the store that the featherbed goes under the fitted sheet (above mattress pad), but all the photos I see of featherbeds show them above the sheet. .... Are the photos for illustrative purposes only, or do featherbeds really go above the fitted sheet?

I always do below the sheet. Who knows if I am correct or not! Also, check the depth of your sheets. If they are deep pockets it should be fine. But I once had sheets that weren't deep enough so I had to use two bottom sheets. One on the mattress and another one over the feather bed. I am pretty sure those photos are just for illustrative purposes.

Good luck. I love feather beds! I can't use one since we co-sleep but I can't wait to get one again.
