I am looking for a b-day gift for a really close friend of mine. She is a mom of 3, in her early 40's, very cool. Problem is they are pretty well off and she has about everything. Any unique ideas out there? She likes jewelry, purses , tshirts, cooking?

I would like to stay under $50.00. Really don't want to do a gift certificate or spa gift.

Thanks!
Ann

I've gotten every woman in my life a pair of Tweezerman tweezers. They're pricy($18) for tweezers but awesome quality and you can send them back to the co. for resharpening.

FYI, you can get them at Bed, Bath, beyond and use their coupon for a better price.

Also maybe a piece of kitchen ware she's been wanting? How about a pizza stone? Pampered chef has some good ones that aren't just for pizza..

Hth.

Did you catch Barbarhow's post a week or so ago? She posted a link to a website with some beautiful handmade scarves. That is top of my list now for hard-to-shop-for friends and family!

how about a beautiful potted orchid. the flowers last for so long!

costco had some great ones in a week ago and usually have them round mother's day. i've had great luck with orchids from costco - including an amazing one that bloomed continuously for 8 months!

or maybe a flowering plant for her yard... she'll think of you every year when it blooms.

Oh, I would get her a great cook book and buy a few ingredients that are hard to get. There is this awsome southeast asian cookbook that has beautiful pictures and a travel story. The authors traveled with their kids. If you have an asian grocery store somewhere in driving distance you could buy her some spices, special rice, spring roll wrappers, etc, real cheap to go with it and make a nice basket. Or you could do it with another cookbook.

"Hot Sour Salty Sweet: A Culinary Journey Through Southeast Asia."

Do you live close to each other? If so, a friend of mine gave me a ticket to see The Color Purple with her for my birthday. I am really looking forward to it.
I have sent my mom gift baskets from Wolferman's. They have the most amazing scones, english muffins and clotted cream. Yummy!
A friend of mine makes the most amazing, hip jewelry out of chain mail. Her website is www.raptinmaille.com .

You said she likes to cook. I have purchased nice gift boxes of really good spices from Penzey's Spices. Maybe that and a nice cookbook?
