I can't breathe! There is something going around DS' daycare. I don't want to pass it back to the poor kids.

I think I have a sinus infection...ugh, the pressure on my ears. And the coughing is keeping me awake all night. I'm getting lightheaded and a dry mouth from not being able to breathe properly. :(

DS is still BFing. Is there anything I can do to alleviate the congestion? It's in my head and chest. So far I've tried hot steamy showers, Sudafed and a neti pot to wash out the sinuses, but I'm so plugged the neti pot is not working! I'm taking naps and drinking lots of water.

Caroline,
I am also BFing and am plagued with the occasional sinus infection. This is what works for me:
Sudafed during the day (buy it from the pharmacist, the sudafed in the regular aisles doesn't do anything for me. The pharmacist actually said that the Sudafed behind the counter is safer for nursing moms)

At night I take Benadryl for cold and allergy. It makes me pretty tired, so I only take it at night, but it clears me up enough that I can sleep. I also tend to start the evening in the recliner chair, until my sinuses dry-up and I can breathe. Hope that helps. Good luck!

Last month, I had a sinus infection with excruciating headaches while on vacation. My DS is also nursing so I didn't want to take much for it and hot showers only helped for 20 mins. My mom (who has had 3! sinus surgeries) microwaved a wet washcloth that I placed on my forehead, eyes, and nose. It was incredible! It was so hot that it was painful, but it really worked. Everything drained out over the day and the pain was gone. I never really believed that method was effective until now. I hope your pain goes away soon!

Thanks all! I'll give those suggestions a shot. Ah, anything to breathe again.
