OT to the max: Books on grass-roots politics

DH's birthday is coming up, and what he'd really like is a good book on grass-roots political change. He wants to change the world. Well, not the world; he wants to change the US to the metric system. (People are passionate about all sorts of things. I find it preferable to football, even though I don't see the attraction myself.) So he wants to know how you set about this sort of thing. Anybody got any book suggestions?

He's really serious about this. He has a website and everything.

i have no idea. but i did find it absolutely hilarious that you titled your post "OT to the max".....i haven't heard "to the max" since the mid 90's and i, for one, think it's time to bring it back!
