Wow- That's a lot of work! Hope it goes smoothly for you.

I was just wondering if the potty by the front door will be part of the new look?!?! :-)

I would say, "looks like fun," but that's a big lie!

I'm sure the results will be well worth it! Hang in there!

I'm so excited for you, Bill! We've lived through a grueling, multi-month kitchen renovation, and from experience I can say that you must be so excited for progress to be underway. It's always worth it in the end. Just make sure the company you're using puts up plastic sheeting to quadrant off the rooms not being renovated when they redo any drywall and sand the mud. That fine dust gets everywhere! And keep switching household ducting filters (like every 3 weeks) if you're running the A/C while they're in there. It will cut down on dust getting everywhere else in the house.

Good luck and looking good so far...

Just a quick update - they finally got the new 3/4" plywood flooring down so we don't have to look at the ugly subfloor anymore and the walls that needed to be removed and relocated/changed are done. The plasterer finished up yesterday - and now everyone's gone for a week - we are still "kitchenless". I need to prime everything in preparation for painting but I need to wait for the plaster to cure now until probably the 23'rd of June (I had planned to prime/paint it all starting tomorrow). ><

Zach's been averaging about 20 minutes of nap time a day - but surprisingly - he's not nearly as miserable as you'd expect. I know my wife's been pretty challenged through it all - not just by Zach but also by her need to keep things neat and clean. So far we're surviving - but I'm sick of having to come home and grill out every night - I know that for sure!

Anyway - I'll try to get a few pictures of the progress posted to show anyone that's interested.

Wow, that almost reminds me of our neighbor's house. Our neighbor bought the empty house behind us (empty for 5+ years) and basically gutted the whole thing, filled in the pool in the backyard, and basically put in a whole new house on the inside (plus a new roof and deck). It was really interesting watching him progress in stages. So are you thinking it'll be done by the end of the month or is that too optimistic?

I finally got around to taking a few before I start priming the areas that are not new plaster.

Here's an older one when they had to build temporary walls to open up our kitchen/dining room entrance (since it was a load bearing wall):

Praise the Lord we FINALLY can get rid of that ugly old chimney chase that did nothing but hold an old cold air return for the second story:

Here's a couple from today before I start painting:

Wow, Bill, remarkable progress! Are you going to have to wipe down all the walls w/ tack cloth? I don't envy all the work that's ahead, but I'm sure it's going to look so awesome when you're done! Sometimes the pride of the final vision is enough to get motivated and finished. GL.

>Are you going to have to wipe down all the walls w/ tack cloth?

I did that last night until about 10pm. We got all the areas that could be primed done today (we used BIN primer that stinks to high heaven - luckily I bought organic respirators to wear or my buddy and I would have passed out) - still need to do the new plaster areas later this coming week or next weekend. Then I get to paint it all.

I love the new larger openings to the dining room and kitchen. Wow, what a lot of work!! I can't wait to see pictures of it when you're done!
