Another TMI post-partum question... stitches

When did your stitches dissolve? I had 1 stitch with DS1 and have no memory of when it dissolved. With DS2 I had a few stitches (Dr. wouldn't reveal how many in total), it took forever, like 6 weeks, then one day I noticed the strings from the stitches when I wiped. This time I am at 3.5 weeks, the "outside" stitches are gone, but the part that is on the "inside" is still there. It is sort of like a knot, or at least that is what it feels like... I am too chicken to grab a mirror and look!? I had a 2nd degree tear, so there are a few stitches to dissolve, but I asked the PP nurse about the timeline and she said a few weeks, IIRC.

When did yours dissolve, if you remember?

No idea. After one mirror look at the nethers where I did not recognize any part of my anatomy, I didn't venture a look again. :o
I know they were gone by my 6-wk f/u, but the rest remains a mystery/blur.

With ds #1, I had an episiotomy and a third degree tear. The OB who did the stitches took about an hour. I never looked, and couldn't tell you "where" the stitches were located. They eventually dissolved, but not sure of the timeline. I think by about 6w everything should be gone.

Mine are still there - 2nd degree right on the midline (same place as DS1) just a few days after you. I have one with a really long 'tail' that is driving me nuts but DH is too chicken to trim it down for me. :P

I thought that most of my stitches had dissolved by 6 weeks, but, um, apparently not because I just had another piece of stitching come out the other day. DD was born in February.

This last time my stitches dissolved in 3 weeks. At 10 days pp I was in SO much pain, I went to the OB. The stitches had come loose (think loosened sneaker laces). I went back to the OB 7 days later to see how I was healing...and they were gone!

With Liv, I had stitches way past my 6 week appt!

I had DD 1 vaginally & mine were gone b4 the 6 wk ck up. I had an episiotomy & a major tear. MIL told me to grab a mirror and look b/c I was having so much pain.

I don't think I've EVER been the same, lol!

I think it was around 5 weeks or so before I couldn't feel them anymore. I was starting to get a little worried about it, but figured it was close enough to my pp checkup that I would just wait till I went in, and they disappeared about a week before. I had a 2nd degree tear too, and I don't know how many stitches I had, but she was down there for half an hour stitching away, so I think it was quite a few!

I had stitches internally with DD. Iirc, they were still there at 2 weeks but gone by 6w pp.
