View Full Version : Deflated down pillows?

I have several of them, and unfortunately, they've lost their 'oomph'.

Is there any way to resurrect them? I've tried washing a couple of them, but it's a pretty short term help.

A few are queen sized and I have two king sized pillows (which were NOT cheap).

Suggestions?

TIA

A little fluffin' in the dryer?
Although if you've washed them, you probably dried them...
It's all I've got! :)

Have you tried putting tennis balls in the dryer with them when you dry them? We usually through in 4 balls during drying. We have some hypoallergenic down pillows and that seems to work every time. Good Luck.

I thought one was supposed to regularly fluff them? That's what I do with DH's pillow. It looks like a pancake and is very full after I shake the feathers up. I don't know of anything else either so I hth.

I second the tennis ball idea! A friend suggested it to me years ago and I have done it ever since. Seems to fluff them up and also make them dry a little faster. I actually think it's a generic/cheaper version of dryer balls which you can buy at BB&B or Target.

Good Luck!

I shake them out and fluff daily. And when I wash anything with down in it, we throw tennis balls in the dryer. I learned that years ago when I worked at Fortunoff. Some lady came in with a burned comforter. It cooked the down because it wasn't shifting due to the weight of the wet bedding. Boy, did that thing STINK!

How about calling/emailing a co. that sells them. They'll probably have another idea. I'm surprised that all these ideas combined aren't working. What's up with your pillows? :P

How long have you had them? If they are broken you will want to replace them. To test if they are broken, fluff the pillow then it down on a table or floor, fold in half, and squish all the air out. If the pillow returns to its original shape, it is still good. If it doesn't, it is broken and time to get a new one.
