I am deploying to the Middle East later this summer and was wondering if anyone here wants me to send them a postcard from my location? I have started getting things ready for the deployment and want to make sure that I have everything in my address book now instead of waiting until the last minute.

So, if you or your DC wants a letter/postcard while I am playing in the giant sandbox, send me your name and address and I will add it to my book.

Have a great day!
Mariah P.

Mariah,

I just sent you an email through the boards here. Let me know if it doesn't go through. Good luck with everything.

ETA: I agree with the others - is there a way that we can get a letter/postcard to you? Just let us know!

Mariah, it is so generous and thoughtful of you to offer to give to others during what will no doubt be a very difficult time for you. Is there any way we can support you during deployment?

I agree. How about you give us your address and we can send you post cards from here to the "big sandbox!" Or, can we send post cards to your DCs so they get mail from all over while you're away? Just tossing out ideas...

also, just curious, any guess how long are you going to be gone for?

Great idea, Jenn! It would be really fun to send YOU postcards, too. But yes, I would love a postcard from over there. Thanks, Mariah! I'll PM you my address. :)

Yes, we'd love to help make you/your kids while you are gone. You are so sweet to think of us! I'll send you an e-mail, too. I don't know if PMs are working, but I'll try.

I think sending out the cards and such is going to be SO MUCH FUN! As far as being away from my family, well, that's part of the job, right? I mean, I did not join the military just for peacetime. I joined because so many people before me sacrificed so much so that I could have the freedoms that I enjoy today. I want to give back what has been given to me.

I know where I am going and know that I will be there for at least 4 months with the possibility of an extension. I am in medical (x-ray), but will be acting in the role of Security. I have escort/security/convoy training scheduled for just before I leave. I HOPE to do some volunteer work while there at the local medical clinics/hospitals. That depends on my schedule and being able to get a foot in the door once I get there.

I will have an address once I get there, or maybe even right before I leave (it depends...sometimes they know it before you leave and sometimes they don't). As soon as I get it, I will either post it or have my DH send it to someone and have them post it. I would love to get any kind of mail that you and/or your DC would like to send.

My DC love getting mail as well. I'll send our address to those that are interested and maybe the kids can be pen-pals.

Thanks so much for the well wishes. I am proud to serve my Country and LOVE being a member of the military!

Wow, Mariah you are my hero! I have no way to thank you for picking up & going over there for all of our sake. I so appreciate your choice and your and your family's sacrifice.
I'd love to send both you & your kids some mail. If you're ok with posting your address we'll try to send some fun letters & stuff.

Mariah, I have already PM'd you but wanted to reiterate what an amazing woman you are. Thank you for having the courage and conviction to defend us, as well as those who are not fortunate enough to have the luxury of freedom.

I know my DC would love to receive mail from you AND would gladly send his beautiful "artwork" to your family.

Thank you for thinking of us and God Bless you!

I don't wanna be a killjoy, but sharing your addresses publicly is not secure behavior. This is, however, a very nice thing to do, Mariah, so I recommend that if anyone wants to share addresses for this reason or any other that's not an officially organized effort (summit, holiday exchange), then you PM Mariah (or each other) and take it offline. You never know who's lurking our public board, and I want everyone to stay safe.

Speaking of staying safe, Mariah, best of luck to you, and please, let's be careful out there!
