We are finally going to paint DS room. Except I don't know what color right now. He has indicated that he likes green but I'm really open to what other's have used for their DS room. I just don't want to be stuck with a ugly puke green color if we pick the wrong one. He is 4 years old right now. I'm hoping that the next color that we pick will be the one that he has for quite some time. The room isn't big. Probably about 14'x10'. He has cherry furniture in the room. Thanks so much in advance!!

Green and cherry red might be hard to match .. what about a nice taupe or ivory, with some deep green accents? That would look nice without being too 'Christmas'.

Also! I'm curious about a house where a 14'X10' room isn't very big. ;)

We are going through the same thing right now, of a fashion. We are moving next month (our loan got approved - woohoo!) and planning on kiddo #1 very shortly thereafter so we are just going to pick a nursery color now, since we're painting the whole place anyhow.

Right now I am liking Sherwin Williams' Dancing Green color. Great name. :)

If you go here: http://tinyurl.com/ehfd5 you can put the color name in the search field and then "paint" a room with it, there are different rooms you can choose from to see how a color looks on the wall. I think the Dancing Green would look nice with cherry wood, but there are also lots of other colors you can looks at. Hope that helps a little. :)

My DS has been saying we need to call the painter to come paint his room orange! ORANGE?!?! His room DOES need a paint job since we had water damage fixed this AM.

I'm thinking maybe wainscotting on the bottom and lightish orange on top?! Or orange on the bottom and off white or white on top?

I'm no help, just hijacking.

Oooh, wainscotting! I love that idea! It is a great look, IMO, and plus it is less real estate to paint (I don't like painting - September is not going to be a fun month).

I think a light orange could look nice, and the wainscotting would keep it from looking like a pumpkin exploded. :)

I didn't realize about that. Hmmm...I was saying that the room wasn't big because when my DS was showing a friend of ours his room he actually commented that the room was very small. I had to laugh at that. :-) Ivory sounds nice. Thanks!

DS's room is painted in Lowes American Tradition Aloe Essence. It's a cool sagey green. I couldn't find an online site to show it but I highly recommend it. Ds's furniture is mahogany colored and doesn't look the least bit christmas-y.

I love them most when they are sleeping.--Me

Thanks, we are thrilled about it!

That site is great - my BIL works for Sherwin Williams, so he turned us on to it. :)

Thank you so much for the color palette. I'm so glad to hear that if I had green it wouldn't look too christmassy. I'll definitely take a look at that color.

Btw, I love that quote. I can totally relate.

My DS1 wanted a RED room, so I understand how you feel. We compromised and painted one wall a bright red and the other walls a cafe au lait/khaki color. It looks great w/ his white furniture and is a color scheme that will work well w/ a number of boy themes.

I think a sage or muted hunter green would look good w/ cherry wood furniture. Think Woolrich colors.

Ive always liked the Restoration Hardware colors. Check out their greens! http://www.restorationhardware.com/rh/catalog/product/product.jsp?productId=prod1048007&navCount=2

I always get a chip from the store and then take it to Home Depot and have them color match it!

Good Luck
