Anyone know of a movie that has knights/castles in it that would be appropriate for a 4-year-old who gets scared kind of easily? Hoping for something where the "bad guys" aren't TOO bad.

We just got him a castle and some knights and I think he's a bit lost on what exactly these guys should do. I don't want to limit his creativity but I also want him to get some ideas to spark his own story making.

Any ideas?
Thanks!!

What about "Knights Tale"?
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0183790/

It was more of a campy movie geared towards teens but set in the right era. It was cute and I don't remember any realy scary violence. There may be some sexual scenes due to the romantic interest but nothing over the top. It has been a few years since I have seen this movie though so you may want to preview it first

How fun for your DS!

Isn't there an animated show on Saturday mornings (I THINK it's Saturday mornings), maybe on PBS with a girl and her dragon? It's set in the Knightish era. I have only seen it once or twice, so of course I can't remember the title, but it looks totally appropriate for younger ones. Everyone talks in a British accent, the girl looks like a stablehand or something, but the dragon is her friend and "steed."

I am assuming Sleeping Beauty is too scary?? Robin Hood maybe?

Shrek came to mind too but also might not be what you are looking for! LOL

there is always the Sword in the stone

I wonder if you looked up King Arthur on a DVD site maybe something could come up??? Maybe even a tv show with a knights of the round table episode? this came up on Amazon

Good Luck, HTH's you!

Why not just let him play with them however he wants? I get the biggest kick out of seeing my kids be creative with things in ways that my media-narrowed creativity would have not imagined.

If he likes Bob the Builder, there is a movie length (I think -- it may be more like a double episode) called Bob the Builder: The Knights of Fix-a-lot. My DC think it's really cute, and totally non-scary.

That's what my husband was just saying -- don't show him anything and just let him make up stories. Maybe that's the way to go.

Thanks for all the recommendations. Maybe we'll show him some of those films after he's had a chance to create his own scenarios.

Jane and the dragon. I thought it was cute, DS passed on it.

Mickey, Donald, and Goofy: The Three Muskateers

Not too scary, though my 5 yr old (who is afraid of Jafar in Alladin) won't watch the parts with Pete (the dog) who plays the the villian.

I also like the idea of letting him make up his own stories... My MIL keeps giving DS Star Wars stuff which we don't allow. I have a rule that if you're not old enough for the movie, you're not old enough for the toys.

Anyway, I've never exposed him to the back-story so Darth Vader became "The Witch," Light Sabers are magic wands, and the Millenium Falcon is a alien fire-station (and occasional animal rescue center). It is a blast to see how their imaginations work.

There is a Backyardigans episode titled Knights are Brave and Strong. No battles or anything, just a mission to deliver a message to another castle.
