Hi folks!
I've been busy recovering for the past 5 weeks or so but just wanted to share the news. Luke Gordon was born on July 20th at 5:45 p.m. via c-section. He was healthy and happy and frank breech. :)
Despite my best efforts, I wasn't able to reschedule my delivery for earlier in the day or earlier in the week. Fortunately, things worked out really well and all the of the hospital personnel that I worked with over the long weekend were really great.
It was such a different experience to have a planned C/S rather than a semi-urgent one. One of the biggest differences was how scary it was to get a spinal versus the relief that an epidural provides when in active labor. Rather than anticipation I was just so frightened. But really, the rest of the process was really peaceful. I felt very comfortable with my OB and just could not wait to see that baby. DS nursed immediately and really, really well. Again, I've been blessed with a really easy and effective nurser who is gaining weight quickly!
The recovery from the C/S is of course really difficult for about 2 weeks but this time around I've really felt so much different and better. I'm still tired after a spin around the block, however, so I'm just taking my time getting back to "normal" and enjoying baby!
This baby is really mellow and sweet. VERY different than DS1 who was happy but high maintenance from day one. I feel so lucky to have my two boys! :)
