I need your help. DH will be attending a convention at the San Diego Convention Center from September 30th to October 4th. Can you help me locate a hotel within walking distance to the Convention Center? We're a little late in registering because he got the e-mail about it really late and most of the hotels adjacent or across the street are booked. Can you recommend a nice, affordable hotel in the area within walking distance since he doesn't plan to rent a car is possible. If the hotel has a shuttle to the Convention Center, then it doesn't have to be as close.

The Marriott Gaslamp is about two blocks from the Convention Center and it looks like they have rooms available:

I'm not sure what is considered "affordable" but the cheapest (corporate and AAA rate) is about $290/night. I think that's a decent rate for hotels w/in walking distance to the CC.

I'll add to this post as I think of more hotels, but maybe that'll help your DH get started.

He can take a cab to the Convention Center for about $8.00 each way or walk to the Santa Fe Train Depot (two blocks behind the hotel) and take the San Diego Trolley's Orange Line (I think) to the Convention Center for less than $5.00 round trip. A $5.00 day pass allows access to the trolley all day:
