A mom fought to save her baby from a pit bull (they are both okay - saved by some contractors who happened to be nearby). It's amazing to see what a mom will do to protect her child:

As far as I know, the dog is still on the loose as the owners (or someone they know) whisked it away after the attack. This makes me so angry!

Thank you for sharing that story. It is really amazing what a mother will do to protect her child! It is horrible what that owner of the dog has done so far, even after getting warnings about the dog being dangerous. I hope that they find the dog, and that the owners are forced to give the woman some financial help, I can not imagine having my arms wrapped in gauze and unable to feel my fingers and also having to take care of a 4 month old.

OMG, Why would any dog attack a baby! The story about the 12 year old at the end was so sad! Thank goodness for those contractors.

The follow up story says they might have the right dog in custody now.

What really ticks me off is that is says the dog had previously been taken away because it bit a different neighbor but the original owner got it back "after Willis obtained dog insurance, muzzled the animal, and posted warning signs, among other safety precautions". WTF is that? Like anyone who gets attacked is going to say "Gee, everything will be o.k. The owner has dog insurance." And I'm sure that dog insurance really made the dog have second thoughts about going after a crying baby. x(

Why is it we can't legally have ferrets in California, but people can keep vicious animals like these dogs? I really just don't get it.
