I found the local water report from the EWG website.

We are moving to NYC and just looked at the 2006 NYC water quality report. We didn't see Radon on the report and wondered whether it was one item tested. It is not currently regulated by EPA but was tested in our city where we live and showed high number.

Per the report, arsenic was under "undetected." Does it mean they didn't find any? I called the NYC-311 but could not get answer. The rep said that the brochure on how the test was done would be mailed to me within 7 business days.

Maybe the NYC moms can confirm this, but I just heard a story on NPR recently that there is a citywide effort to get the citizens to drink their tap water instead of buying bottle water, as they have some of the best water in the country.

Yes. NYC water is some of the best in the country. There was recently a thread about this.
