My 30th birthday is in November and my mom wants to buy me something nice. The only things I can think of are nice perfume or a watch. My mom likes the idea of a watch, since it is a bit more memorable. The problem is that I have no idea what style to get. The features I need are - waterproof and glow in the dark hands (or some other feature that will let me tell time in the dark - glowing face, light, etc). I really want something fashionable. My current watch is sporty.

Do you have a watch you like?

I love my Citizen Eco Drive. Never needs a battery!! It charges up by exposing it to light. Awesome!

I'm not sure if there is a style that has a "glowy" face, but I love my Movado that my husband bought me, gosh, 5 or more years ago? Goes with everything, looks classy but can still be a great every day watch.

Happy early Birthday! My parents bought me a beautiful gray pearl necklace which I now can never wear since DD LOVES to pull on necklaces!

When I was shopping for a new watch I posted about it on this thread (linked below) that someone else had started on the clothing/fashion board:

Here is what I wrote:

These pics are from the Casio Baby G main site, they are the most recent models of the styles I like. I'm going to get the first one(pink face/silver metal band).

1. http://www.baby-g.com/products/baby-g_g-ms/ The style number is: MSG160D-4V

2. White faced w/silver metal band: http://www.baby-g.com/products/baby-g_sweet_poison/ Style number: MSG161C-7V You have to scroll down to see it.

3. Pink face with black and silver band: http://www.baby-g.com/products/baby-g_sweet_poison/ Style number: MSG161C-1V Scroll down to see it.

I'll post a review after I get it!

I love it. :-) I wear it all the time. I go to the movies a lot so having the glow/light up feature is great. I love that it is digital yet has a metal band. The pink face is nice, too, but it is a pale pink in real life and not too noticeable. It's heavy, not puny, good quality, goes with everything, doesn't stick get stuck on my skin/hairs. It's waterproof and has all that techie stuff some people look for. The size of it took me by surprise at first (big) but now I'm used to it and it's just perfecto. Amazon has it for less, too. That's where I bought it.

Here it is:

Isn't it sharp?! I was not able to find it in real life. I tried and tried because I really wanted to see it in person before buying it. I was afraid to order and then have to deal with returning it, mailing it back, ordering a different one, lalala. I read some reviews about it online and liked what I read. I was also unable to find another digital watch with a metal band, so I decided to just go for it.

It's funny, if I had seen it in real life first I don't know if I would have bought it because it did strike me as being too big at first. It is meant to be worn loose, but I could take out a link or two if I wanted, but that wasn't the only issue, the whole thing is just biggish. I kept it though and just planned to take out a link to tighten it up and maybe reduce the bigness of it. As it turned out I just got used to wearing it loose and the size is totally fine for me now. I'm not a petite woman though, I'm 5'8" and a normal sized frame, not tiny, so I think I look fine with it.

You may be able to find it in person near you. You just have to look on their website to see if anyone in your state carries it. Then give the store a call.

I went to the dermi right after getting it and as she was examing me she noticed the watch. She said "Oh look at that! It's a Baby G that looks like a regular watch (cause of the metal band)". I was surprised that she knew it was a Baby G because I had never heard of them before.

Let me know what you wind up with! I had lots of fun shopping for one.

xo,

B.

I have a Bulova that's been going strong for over ten years now. I just keep changing batteries every few years. I *think* I paid a little over $100 back then, but I got it at Century 21 (kind of like a clearance department store in NYC).

If it helps, for my 30th birthday, Jonathan got me a small tennis bracelet from Fortunoff. It is very simple and wasn't crazy sick expensive. It's understated, and I wear it every day. I guess DH and DM presents are on different levels though. ;)

That is *really* pretty! I love the silver metal band and pink face. If I didn't want a digital one this would have been perfect for me, too.

Enjoy it!!
