I guess it's not PC to sit "Indian style" anymore. So what do people call this position?

My son's preschool teacher tells the kids to sit "pretzel legs" and his OT says to sit "criss-cross."

Is there a new common term for this or does everyone call it something different?

DD's teachers use "criss-cross applesauce". LOL I use that now, but I guess I've said cross-legged, too.

"Tailor Sitting" for adults. "Criss-cross applesauce" seems to be popular in preschools.

DD's music teacher taught them to cross their legs like they were playing a violin while sitting down She does it while "playing a flute" on her arm. It's very cute to see her try to do that. LOL!

How about crosslegged? That's what I used to call it when I was a kid.

Yup, DD's preschool drums the mantra "criss-cross-applesauce with your hands in your lap" into all the kids. They do it automatically now!

When I see DS sitting "W" style I tell him to cross his legs. I call it "criss-cross" or "criss-cross applesauce".

Ds calls it criss cross applesauce. They call it that at school and gymnastics.

I still call it the un PC name if I am not thinking otherwise I say tailor sitting.

I didn't know there was a special term for it until Kai started saying it at home a few weeks ago. They use "criss cross applesauce" in his class (3.5-5 year olds) and the kids seem to respond to it very well.

Actually, I don't think I've ever referred to it as anything. Cross legged, I guess.

Always called it "indian-style" growing up and still refer to that occasionally, but DCs preschool calls it "criss-cross applesauce."
