DS doesn't go to a daycare, but he does have "school" one day/week plus speech therapy and ABA...I've been wondering what and if to get everyone.

Although he just switched in Sept./Oct. to a toddler drop off group (and I can go shopping by myself for two hours!), he's had the same head teacher since January and I definitely wanted to get her something, but now there are also two other teachers in that class. I'm not sure how much interaction he has with them because his ABA aide also goes to school with him...

Then we have a speech therapist once/week since June...

An ABA lead educator 5 hours/week since Sept.

An ABA assistant 16 hours/week since Sept.

I'm guessing I should probably get everyone something, right? Probably the same kinds of things for a daycare teacher. I was debating about Target or restaurant gift certficates or B&N...I like the idea of the AMEX gift cards too. I just wasn't sure whether to get more for the people who have been working with him longer (or if that doesn't really matter in the long run).

Debbie,

Last year, I ended up giving both the day care teachers and therapists the exact same thing (B&N GC and cookies). This year, I'll do the same. I can't really put a dollar value on each person's time or impact on my child, so it's really just to let them know I appreciate what they do.

I am an SLP and used to work with preschoolers. It really is the thought that counts. That being said, I think gift cards are nice-especially ones for places like Target, the mall, AmEx, etc. are nice because that everyone can use them as opposed to to a specific restaurant or store that the recipient may or may not like. Even a $5 giftcard to Starbucks or your local coffee shop is much appreciated. Another thought is something for the classroom or that the therapists can use in therapy.

You really don't have to do anything, of course. A card is always nice too.

Hope your son's program is going well.

Thanks to you both!

I was trying to think of a therapy store or good toy store because I know that the different people probably buy many things on their own for the classrooms and for the kids to use...but I wasn't sure the best place.

For my own selfish reasons I was thinking about the GC that got me a few dollars back (like UNOs!), but I was thinking the same thing, that I couldn't be sure the people liked pizza or coffee or whatever. I think Target or AMEX is probably the way to go.

Thanks for the input and suggestion!

ITA. Honestly, when I was working, I never expected a gift, and w/ a lot of kids getting multiple therapies, it adds up financially for the parent. A heartfelt note in a kid-made card is always sweet & appreciated. If you want to do a gift, a starbucks card or similar rocks, especially since a lot of therapists drive all day long, appt. to appt.
