Not a recall (yet), but possibly even more scary than the lead recalls....

Will it ever end?????

I just called Spin Master, which is the company that distributes the Aquadots in Canada and the US. The company has issued a "stop sale" order to all its retailers because of the Australia recall, but the product has not been officially recalled in North America. But, you're not supposed to be able to purchase it (which makes it different from a recall how?!). The CS guy said "the product is perfectly safe to use as intended, but the concern is around small children". Um, yeah, ya think?? I actually looked at it for DD#1, but figured (even without the drug issue) that the dots were too risky to have round DD#2.

Jackson just got these as a birthday present and I was wondering about safety around kids. My SIL and I were talking and she said they used them at their preschool so that is why she got them. I commented that surely they must be safe and non toxic since kids would likely chew on them. I actually put one in my mouth to see what the 'glue' type thing was like. SO SCARY!!!

I just saw a big report on CNN about the recall in Australia and was coming here to post but you beat me to the punch.

Why is it that I see teenagers running to TRU in a wild attempt to get some Aquadots to 'drop'? :P
This has to be one of the weirdest recalls ever!

From the article: "This is something that they could not have foreseen. This is an extremely hot toy. ... It's a little scary," Byrne said.

What, they couldn't forsee that kids put things into their MOUTHS? x(
