Ok, well, I made it to 37 weeks and so tomorrow is the c-section. At 3pm please be passing on some of that O-so-amazingly-effective BBB mojo!!! I'm going to need it and so will the twins.

I can't tell you how nervous I am. I guess with 2 previous c/s under my belt (no pun intended), I have that "fear of the known." And of course, we all know all the bad things that could go wrong. And OF COURSE, I can't stop thinking about them.

As for the boy's name, my husband and my dad (whose name is Alan), decided on Henry William, so I guess they were thinking along the same lines as most everyone else who voted on my last name thread. You'll all have to wait to find out the girl's name we chose.

Well, I won't have a computer in the hospital so I'm hoping to let you all know how things went in about a week. So, if you don't hear from me in a week or less, assume something bad happened and please start the mojo again!!!

Just wanted to say thanks you guys for the support, consideration and encouragement you have all given me. It has really meant a lot- I really needed it.

(oh, and btw, I will post some pictures of the belly which we'll be taking tomorrow. It truly is circus, freak-showish. Can't wait for it to go away!)

Best of luck, Lisa! I'll be thinking of you! Try not to worry too much--you'll be in capable, caring hands.

And congrats. on making it to 37 weeks with twins! That's quite an accomplishment. Even if your belly is showing signs of heavy use, think of it as a major badge of honor!

Lisa

I am not sure how many of your other posts I have actually replied to, but I know I have read many of them. I have consistently been impressed by your sense of humor and mostly positive attitude. You sound just like me (obsessing on "all the bad things that COULD go wrong.") I call myself a "realist" (not a pessimist!). But, realistically, everything will go smoothly tomorrow, and you should have not one, but two precious bundles snuggled in beside you. Congrats on carrying them this far! What an accomplishment! I know that by the end of my pregnancies, I was so ready to deliver and NOT be a baby-house anymore. I can only try to imagine how much those feelings are increased by carrying two! I will be saying lots of prayers for you, DH, and the little ones....and of course your health care provides too. I am also sending lots of good mojo for the upcoming weeks. You sound like you hvae everything under as much control as you can :) You CAN do this, and you WILL!!! COngrats, mama!

My husband lent me his laptop to use here at the hospital since I was so excited to update. First, let me say, thank you to everyone who said prayers and offered some valuable BBB mojo- It worked!! You were all right- everything that could go smoothly, did!! In fact, out of the 3 c/sections I’ve had, this one went the most smoothly. I would even venture to say that it was almost fun (although recovery has been anything but- ouch).

First, my OBGYN came in to talk to me and was all upbeat and excited. He said mine was his only surgery that day and he would be fun to meeting my 2 new family members. Then I met my anesthesiologist who was not only good looking, but was a pure genius. In record time he inserted my spinal and with such skill that Ive had eyebrow waxings that hurt worse. The nurse anesthetist who stayed with me was fantastic too, with a great personality. Then, my highly respected OB told me that he had a partner who was visiting from a different clinic who wanted to assist with the twins delivery. I know her- she’s highly regarded too. So, I felt very comfortable being in 2 pairs of intelligent hands. Then, when they pulled the babies out, the NICU teams said the babies were so healthy, that they let the twins stay right in the operating room with my husband and I . This was a nice distraction since with the last c/s, my husband followed the baby to the nursery and I was left to enjoy the tugging and sewing of the OB closing me up. We got to ogle the babies and talk about how perfect they were. What a loving family moment and a great distraction!! Evertything was great until the recovery room. But we got that figured out eventually.

For whatever reason, the hospital’s policies on pain medication changed in the past 2 years and I was getting less than I did for the last c/s but needed even more because of the extra stress of carrying twins!! So, after complaining about it for a day, I eventually got another drug added to my list. That made a huge difference. Oh, and you guys would be so proud of me- I told one of the nurses about my MRSA concerns and she taped a sign to my door asking for everyone to foam in and foam out before and after leaving my room. It has worked like a jewel and so far the only comments I’ve got on it were positive and supportive.

Oh, and the twins are so sleepy that we are having some problems bfing. As soon as they latch on, they fall asleep. Neverfail it happens every time. The nurses and peds have all said that it’s normal especially for twins. So, we are just being patient and working at staying awake.

So, here is my announcement, minus photos which I will have to add once I get home:

I am pleased to present our twins, Siena Elisabeth and Henry William born November 14th, 2007. Sienna weighed 6 lbs., 6 ounces and measured 20 inches long. Henry weighed 6 lbs., 11 ounces and measured 19 inches. Siena was born at 4:05pm and Henry at 4:06pm. The babies are happy and healthy and loving to snuggle with each other and mama.

Just wanted to thank everyone again for all the incredible support you have provided. I can’t tell you how much it meant to me.
