Has this happened to anyone? I've been feeling crummy for about 17 1/2 weeks now. I figured at first it was what was to be expected. I know people have a much worse time of it and I never really had morning sickness with DS...I wasn't throwing up, but I was nauseous and had gas and pretty much all kinds of stomach trouble!

But after I realized I'd had diarrhea (sp?) on and off for a few weeks, I called my OB. They didn't think it was pregnancy related and had me see my PCP. I left a *sample* (not until yesterday thoiugh) but DH had wondered about milk and milk products.

So yesterday I didn't have any milk and lo and behold, I did feel better. I did a little research online and it sounds like most doctors don't believe it happens, but a few people mentioned it had happened to them.

I'm hoping it doesn't affect cheese! I know cheese can often be a different bird. I think I could give up milk and ice cream, but I don't think I could give up cheese!

I had a hard time with cow's milk during both pregnancies. I guess the good part was that I didn't crave ice cream. ;) I could have cheese so long as didn't go crazy with it. Lactaid helped and my OB said it was safe.

I actually had the opposite experience. I am lactose intolerant EXCEPT when I am pregnant! Seems I can eat all the dairy I want whe pg and be ok. Very odd. Lactaid does work well and is safe like pp said.

I am severly lactose intolerant--cheese, milk, icecream, anything with whey (most boxed items such as potato buds etc...) make me deathly ill. However, it goes away completely when I'm pregnant. I actually crave dairy. It seems that if that can happen, the opposite can as well. Lactaid pills and something called Dairy Ease (a chewable tablet) work for me. Good luck. I hope you feel better.

I'd heard about the opposite happening too (same with migranes, many people who have them normally, don't have while pregnant and vice versa, must be something with those hormones!).

Well, this is day 2 or 3 of no milk or ice cream and I definitely feel better! I've still been eating cheese too (I really really can't give that up!) and still okay. And I don't usually eat much yogurt, but I know that often is fine and I had a little and seemed okay. So I guess that's the way to go! I'll definitely try out the Lactaid. I know years ago I thought I might be lactose intolerant, but it turned out to be something different.

Heck, if this is all it is, I can definitely live with it for a few months! Even longer if necessary. I'm just happy to feel better (knock on wood).
