I just realized that an Epi pen may not be allowed and its too late to get a doctor's note- we leave at 7am tomorrow.
Parents of allergic kids- any tips or answers?
Thanks!

I may just depend on the the airport...it seems like they all make their own rules. I am quite allergic to bee stings and I was not allowed to take my Epi on the plane with me--however, I tried to take it on the carry-on. Afterwards, I thought that perhaps I should have just packed it in my bag that got checked? Perhaps call the airline and see if you can get through to an actual person and ask about it; if my child was allergic I wouldn't want to go anywhere without the Epi!

Rx should be allowed: http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/specialneeds/editorial_1059.shtm

"All medications in any form or type (for instance, pills, injectables, or homeopathic) and associated supplies (syringes, Sharps disposal container, pre-loaded syringes, jet injectors, pens, infusers, etc.) are allowed through the security checkpoint once they have been screened. Atropens, an auto-injection system that can help treat many emergency conditions (low heart rate, breathing problems, and excess saliva related to insecticide, nerve gas or mushroom poisoning) are also allowed."

I would print the letter in the link above and take it with you.

DH just flew with his and they just required it be in a 1quart ziploc (this was the case w/ all liquids in allowable amounts). He had no issues at all, and flew on Southwest.

Just check the TSA website to confirm.

I've carried Joshua's on many times and have never had any problems. In fact, when I've gone out of my way to "declare" it, that's when I've gotten the funny looks.

Yep, it should be under the 3 oz. per container rule as far as liquids, so just put it in your 1 qt ziploc and they shouldn't give it a second glance.

Diabetics travel with needles all the time.
