We've started shopping for furniture for DS's big boy room and I'm wondering what people consider the best wood for this type of furniture. We want it to last at least into his junior high years.
Most of what we've seen has been solid birch, but we've also seen some maple (usually more expensive) and oak. I know pine is not recommended because it's a soft wood.
Any other woods I should be looking for? What about solid wood vs. veneers?
